It provokes me as a Swiss that I have to recognize in most questions automatically if they refer to USA. Practically nobody strives to indicate in his question which country it concerns. That does not only hurt. It can be rather arrogant and is political not correct.

Other English debating friends might feel the same. We live in numerous English speaking countries from Antigua to Zambia.

Can we also forget to indicate our country in our questions? Or have we to go to leave here?

That's what I meant with 'rather arrogant', Pgb.

I simpathise. Unfortunately, Americans have taken over Yahoo and they act as if Yahoo's an American site and all the rest of us are second class citizens. They forget that the whole point of the net is that it's an international thing. But that's the way it goes with still young countries, I guess. Fortunately, I must add, not all Americans behave that rudely.

It's natural to assume that this forum consists of your native local unless there is something in the question that specifies a location. People are not used to a global community. Give it time. This is still a new technology. People have been around a long time compared with the Internet or Yahoo Answers. Don't take offense. It doesn't bug me that others don't indicate a country.

Consider this..."Buyer beware". Good luck!

As I am English, I would always answer questions with 'UK?' first. (please feel free check profile if you need confirmation of this) I can usually tell if the questions are related to English scenarios, but if not, I just ask. As this is the English spoken part of the site it is assumed that most posters are from a country which predominately speaks English. So what if we get it wrong from time to time? I am sorry if this offends you. If you are concerned, click on the little flags at the bottom of the page to go to your chosen country. Otherwise, we are very pleased to make your acquaintance and look forward to chatting to you again.

There are little buttons at the bottom of the page for other countries. England is there, but I guess the Swiss are out of luck.

Yahoo is an American company and the vast majority of its users are American so I think the presumption pretty much is that if you don't say what country you are in, we assume the USA. I don't think that is unreasonable.

You can "go to leave here." Works for me.

*Yes, and that's because nonAmericans are 'rather' insulting and intolerant towards Americans. Enjoy your "arrogant American" rant.
