My dad is a flame spitting Republican. I do care about him but if I really let the truth out he would probably call hellfire down on me for my views. There are a few others in my family like him. They rant to all the kids and grandchildren about how bad things are and how liberals are ruining the country etc etc. Talking to them you might think the soviet union still exists and there were tanks sitting in Berlin.

In my family I can safely say that most of the younger generations have become disenchanted with the older folks who seem to be lost in some sort of time warp. Some hippies never let the sixties and the same is true for their polar opposites.

My question is in your family how many people are considered one of those 'evil liberals'? Who is spitting fire duck taping their windows for chemical imminent attacks while Rush Limbaugh thunders and Fox news flashes its colorful fear factors to the nation?

Does anyone think that the whole american involvement in Iraq might be more about what we've not been told? The WMD in Iraq and 9/11 were the key in the ignition (so to speak) Liberation of a repressed people was given as a reason to stay, Stabilization was given as a reason to stay longer... but perhaps there are more reasons to stick around. Like having a base of operations to kept Iran in check. Also if you look at the geography of the middle east, and where most threats are comming from, Iraq and afganistan are statigic places from where to control the region. Perhaps there is more going on than what is just on the surface. Like when the US and USSR were at odds. we started to strategically place bases in Eurpoe and Asia to place pressure on The USSR.

My second question is, what will be said when Iraq is a stable, democratic society (i realize if this happens) well the left find other reasons to dislike the outcome? Can a leftist give me an idea what will be said if this happens

this kid in my school acts like he knows how to fight and everything...all i did was tell him to shut the hell up cuz he was talking loud and then he was like "you wanna fight *****..ill f*ck you up" and i was gonna fight him but i didnt wanna get arrested and make this some jena 6 crap(hes white and im black) so i left him alone...now he saying he wanna fight me and he thinks hes down with the bloods(that gang that got beef with the bloods) and he dont even wear red..and im not gettin arrested cuz this is not going on my record...

so what am i supposed to do?? fight this kid??

I have been wondering this for some time. See, I live in the States and many people here say that we have an illegal immigration problem (Mostly Mexico). Some civilians have even gone to the point of patrolling the border voluntarily.

Now for the question. Is this a major problem in Europe as well?

I mean, there are more borders that can be crossed illegally so you would figure that it could be a potentially larger problem. Just wondering.

My parents filed for bankruptcy a few years back and had it discharged in 2004. They just received a notice today(in 2007) that they are being audited for 2005. During their bankruptcy, the IRS repeatedly sent them letter despite the fact that they knew they were not allowed to. I know that was harassment, but is it also harassment that my parents are being audited for the year immediately following their discharge? My parents have the proper files to support their taxes, but what they are worried about is that the IRS is going to continue to badger them and go after them every time they get some money saved up. Is there anything they can do?

It gets rather old seeing all the childish taunts, rants, and name-calling that goes on here. Politics is not the Rams vs the Steelers or bad guy vs other bad guy.

Our country is falling apart right before our eyes and instead of seeking positive answers and direction and writing SERIOUS Q & A about how to change life for future generations, this wonderful medium called "The Internet" becomes a format for pissing contests.

Our military is trained for battle and are doing an unprecedented outstanding job in a new kind of war. Do those against the war that are demanding our troops come home realize they are only prolonging this war? and keeping the terrorists laughing?

Those against this war at home are psychologically devastating many of our best troops with their antiwar propaganda. This message of TOTAL CONFUSION daily, from back home is potentially more psychologically devastating than the war itself. I would be scared he has backup, so I would want to keep my gun loaded and armed and in my grip, but wouldnt the police NOT want that? What is the proper thing to do after notifying the police after having shot someone. If it makes any difference, Id likely be defending myself with a pump action 12 gauge, nothing semi automatic.
