No! Why should we pay for things we had no control over? Instead of people demanding handouts because other people of their race were slaves MANY years ago, maybe we should offer the chance to back where their ancestors came from....Have you seen Darfur and Aids, and the lack of food? I guess its not so bad here afterall. As to the Native American comments....They can earn BILLIONS from the casinos, the Indian Casinos actually made more money in 2006 than Las Vegas Casinos!! They ruin our fishing because of spearing lots of fish they don't even use. I have PERSONALLY seen piles of fish thrown into a ditch after spearing! They only spear fish for spite, its not a matter of providing food anymore.

You must be too young to have studied the civil war or else you're a child prodigy. My Great Grandfather was a Union soldier during the civil war. My grandfather was born in 1861, my father in 1903 and I was born 1933. I think you put in at least one too many greats. Anyway, the answer is no.

A source could be very severe-high quality WITH this kind of BALONEY. study a newspaper a while. that's no longer a genuine subject... or a precedence for anybody in government. human beings will locate the devil everywhere as long because it assaults a political candidate that they do in comparison to in my view. what's next, a question approximately Obama helping canine struggling with as a results of fact he and Michael Vick have an identical complexion?

I would like to tell you how grateful I am that he fought such a horrible horrible war to free the slaves and more! No, these repirations were paid out back in the day to the full and where anyone could possibly think they should get them today is beyond me!!! I don't even see a connection!

No person or estate of a resident of the United States should pay Reparations to any descendant of a slave.

I am 37 and had no part in slavery so that is like asking me to pay retroactive child support for my Great Grandfathers illegitimate child to that child's grandson.

he died as a Union soldier to preserve the Union, not to free the slaves, you need to take a remedial course in the events leading up to the Civil War

as far as reperations are concerned, there were promises made to the freed slaves by our government that were never fulfilled, whether or not we as a nation should attempt to make good on those promises says a lot about what kind of nation we are...
and ask the American Native population how good this nation is at keeping promises

maybe only direct decedents of slave owning families should -- nah that's not right either. NO ONE should have to pay for the sins of their fathers. The idea of reparations just sucks

your statement about the civil war and why your ancestor died is incorrect, but restitution should not be paid to those that are long dead. dead people have no need of money
