This supposedly to help pay for children's health care? I don't have children. Also no coverage of my own. Aren't taxes to be shared by everyone? Why should smokers (the majority of which are not well-to -do) pay for everyone's health care!? Say what you will about the dangers of smoking, I'm 39 & only I can decide what is right for me!
If this proposal passes, it's not going to deter any existing smokers to quit! Even if it did, then there'd be less people to pay the tax- sounds a bit like a self-defeating logic.
As it stands right now, a 22,000 large group of people would be needed to become "new smokers" in order to make this work! More self-defeating logic! I urge anyone who believes America is not a Communist Nation to write or call their representatives & congressmen about this! If a $1/gallon of milk tax were proposed, people would be up in arms! I don't drink milk, BTW. But why should I care if those who do have to pay for government health care programs?

Im 17. in sum 05 i have spine fusion for scoliosis. 1month later found out a screw "came loose" and had another operation for that. everything was ok.. except i had some pain but the doc said everything was normal. in 07 i had really bad back pain.. i told the doc and we made appointments. but like a week b4 them he cancelled. in aug 07 i found out a screw broke and the lumbar part of my back did not fuse. i decided to get the med records and it says that the doc thought that during the surgery #1 the screw that eventually came loose was too lateral but maybe ok... but more importantly.. the docs noted in AUG 06 a screw was fractured... he did not try to contact me in any way until i was able to get an appointment in aug 07... wat should i do?

The brunches from my neighbors tree drop leafs on my roof, as leafs and brunches accomulate on the roof and threaten the safety of my house. So, it is very desirable limbing the neighbor tree. It seems that there are three possible answers to my questions and I do not know what is right:

a) my neighbor must pay for the limbing of his tree
b) my neighbor must allow me to limb his tree but I have to pay for it
c) I have no rights in the matter
d) The law is not clear on the issue

Do you think the country could have survived if Johnson had been thrown out of office? He was impeached because he and Congress could not agree on reconstruction plans. Many northerners opposed him because he was a southern sympathizer. However, the argument for his impeachment was weak, and he was kept in office because the Senate was 1 vote short of conviction. Yet if Johnson had been impeached, what do you think would be the impact on the country that was desperately trying to rebuild? If a business was forced to pay at least minimum wage or a competitive wage, stopped paying their CEO's exhurburant amounts of money for not doing much,and paid taxes accordingly instead of getting insane amounts of tax breaks, would jobs that most citizens would not take and illegals would take, seem more appealing for citizens? I don't think it's a question of citizens flat out refusing to work jobs, but it's that businesses don't want to pay for it or give benefits they would have to give an american citizen.

I have a small machine shop. My mother wanted to retire and asked me to move back home with her and move my machine shop into her garage so that I would be closer and I could help maintain her place. After a few months she wanted her privacy, (time with boyfriend), and didn't want me there anymore. Now she won't even let me come out and do my work. I spent 1000's moving my machinery and rewiring her garage and it will cost me 1000's more to move it back out along with losing quite a bit of work from this. Can I sue her? Do I have any kind of case? My brother and sister already do not speak to her and I will no longer after I correct this issue.

ok i need help while i was in the navy DEP (delayed entry program) i had a medical condition i dint kno what to do and my recuiter said oh its ok youll be fine so naturaly when i went to ship the docs were like oh we need to get a waiver so its been a mounth and a half and i have not heard anything every time i talk to the recuiter he say oh i havent heard any thing so i would like to know if anybody has some advice for me or if anybody knows anything about waiver because i really want to go into the navy still any help would be much appreciated thank you.
