His name was Kenneth Wright. He was born on Nov. 22, 1915 and died April 9, 2002.

I think dad said he was in the Army. But today I found out he was in the National Guard. I found that out on Ancestry.com.

There is only one way. Read the link and be aware that many records were lost in a fire in 1973.

Edit: You may also be able to get a copy of his DD214 from the County registrar. That would be were his parents were when he came home most likely. It will show the campaigns he was in, the medals authorized, his rank and the last unit he was assigned to. A note to the medals is that if he was infantry the Combat Infantry Badge issued during WWII was upgraded to a Bronze Star by law in 1947. Any old letters you might find with unit ID on them allows some backtracking. I was able to get a much better picture of my own Dad by researching the units he was in online. I even found a book written by a Lt the was in the same battalion. It verified many stories he told and was a real eyeopener to the behavior of the other Dads in the hood.
