I am a web producer at a newspaper and I am wondering if I can bring my fonts from home and use them here (legally).

Some of them are only available for purchase.

I know it can physically be done, but will I put the newspaper at risk for copyright infringement or something?

I think they should rewrite the law and make it so that a child born in this country by an illegal does not get automatic citizenship.
That's like if I bought a car that was stolen, it would be taken from me or if I had money I made from dealing drugs it would be seized. Why reward an illegal because they ran the border and had an illegal kid here?

Iraqi occupation supporters do realize that the US will have to start downsizing its presence in Iraq by March of 08 don't you? The Army cannot sustain the current level of commitment past that point. Unless you want to extend the tours to 18 months or more. I can provide links to this fact if you really need them. If you do need them, then you've just proven that you don't pay attention to the news, and that includes Fox.

I put in my 2 week notice exactly two weeks from today. As of yesterday, my schedule reflected that, making today my last day. After work today, I double checked my schedule to confirm that today was my last day, only to discover (to my surprise) that Friday and Saturday had both been hand written into my schedule, without mention to me or consultation. Viewing this, I checked the next two week's schedule (which had been posted) to see that they've hand scheduled me for the next 2 weeks, as well! When I spoke to my supervisor about this, he simply said he would leave a note for Human Resources.
Am I obligated to work past my 2 week notice (my contract explicitly said I needed to give them only 2 week notice), and should I still call them to explain why I won't be coming in each day that I'm scheduled to work?
The only reason I say daily is because we are obligated to give a call if we aren't working, regardless of circumstance, and missing 2 days of work result in an automatic firing

What's wrong with pulling out now, we already got rid of Saddam and we clearly can't fix their problems. Isn't this war is costing too much money and lives for no good reason?

instead of cowardly hiding behind their computers and crying about how it is worth our soldiers dying policing a civil war?

Four soldiers and their Iraqi interpreter were killed when a roadside bomb detonated near the patrol on Wednesday in the eastern half of the Iraqi capital during "combat operations," the military said on Thursday.

It did not specify the exact location of the blast.

Another servicemember, a Task Force Marne soldier, was killed by small arms fire on Thursday south of Baghdad, the military said in a separate statement.

Another skeptic on the panel is Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, the committee's top Republican. Lugar and Sen. John Warner, R-Va., have drafted legislation that would require Bush to deliver to Congress by mid-October a new military strategy to end major combat.

That is the big question , i see nothing positive being gained what so ever..in my opinion staying the course is the only viable alternative. To do otherwise is a statement of defeat dont these Senators know how their political posterizing effects the morale of the Troops. Or do they even care is the big question i guess.

There is a growing trend of towns taking the incentive to crack down on illegal immigrants, since the federal government is doing little about the problem. Granted this has been mostly small towns, but I believe this approach will spread. If the federal government will not do it's job, the authorities at the local level will take care of the problem themselves. The federal government will not stop them, because anyone who tries will look pro-illegal and lose many votes at election time.

Regardless of whether we should have invaded Iraq, we are there now. It is known that if we leave now we will be giving Iraq to Iran and Al Qaida. This in turn is a threat to the United States. We made a big mistake by invading, but wouldn’t it be a bigger mistake to leave it in chaos? What do you think?

Republican Rep. Jeff Flake of Arizona, questioned Democratic Rep. Peter J. Visclosky of Indiana on the House floor Tuesday about whether the Center for Instrumented Critical Infrastructure actually exists – since they were about to be appropriated over a million tax dollars. Rep. Flake asked Rep.Visclosky, "Does the center currently exist?"
Visclosky, who chairs the spending subcommittee responsible for the project said, "At this time, I do not know," but the Indiana Democrat assured, "But if it does not exist, the monies could not go to it." {Now THAT IS re-assuring!}
And who could possibly be the sponsor of such an earmark for a corporate entity that at that time had yet to be created…Pennsylvania Democrat John P. Murtha.
A certificate filed with the requested funds says the money is actually earmarked to Concurrent Technologies Corporation, a brief search of campaign finance records shows CTC President and CEO Daniel R. DeVos, has contributed $7,000 to Murtha's reelection campaign. J.P must be slipping! That’s less than a 10% kick back! He demanded more than that during ABSCAM.

WASHINGTON - When Gareth Groves brought home his massive new Hummer, he knew his environmentally friendly neighbors disapproved. But he didn't expect what happened next. The sport utility vehicle was parked for five days on the street before two masked men smashed the windows, slashed the tires and scratched into the body: "FOR THE ENVIRONMENT."

My wife worked for an individually owned small manufacturing company in Texas. It was owned by a local businedd man and was not a corporation. The office consisted of 2 people plus the warehuose personnel. During her time there, she was never paid on time. Payday was every-other Tuesday but wouldn't get paid until Thursday or Friday of that week. The accounts receivable's were so far behind that if a company didn't pay my wife's company then they had no money to cover payroll. Can anything be done for all the late paychecks received?

Also, she was terminated last Thursday and has just now received her last check yesterday. It was my understanding that an employer has to give you the last check at the time of termination? In addition, the check is significantly less than what it should have been. The owner has no records of hours worked by his employees as required by the DOL.Can we sue for paying us the wrong amount, or not keeping records? I'd like to stick it to this guy!

"Universalism is supposed to embrace the concept of liberalism and democracy. Yet, in order to be able to define the set of rules which would define democracy, the procedure would be to take what the majority believes, and thus the minority would be left behind...thus universalism is contradictory as it implies prejudice against the minority"

I thought this was an interesting idea, brought forward by a friend of mine in a debate.yet, i feel that her statement is somewhat flawed.

What do you think?

I am sure she did something, afterall, she is a member of the party of accountability...
