Well, that would make it an easy win for the insurgents and the only way they could win.

Hmmm, you seem like, as Stephen Colbert would say, a "loyal Bushy" meaning you will stick with anything George Bush says.
Firstly; Pulling your American troops out of Iraq would mean less people have to suffer untimely deaths.
Secondly; What more can the troops do? They can't force the Iraqi's to just become like Americans in the way they behave themselves.
Thridly; The only reason in my mind that they are still there, is for Iran. That is, taking over Iran for oil and to stop their president from developing WMD's or launching his already made WMD's at his disposal.
Forthly; The moral is steadily dropping in Iraq, for most it's the same, but for those that are in tanks and LAV's (light Armored Vehicles) they are afraid of mines, roadside bombs and other horribal forms of death and destruction, thus lowering morale.
Lastly; Being that the middle east is losing more and more insurance and that your army has done 98% of the work so far, don't you thing it would make more sense to save your American peoples lives by pulling them out and letting the Iraqi government and military do their job?
Hope this helps... and BTW I AM CANADIAN!!!

Not only are we saving American lives, and saving billions of dollars that should be spent on health care, education, jobs, etc, we would finally realize that this is a war we will never win, and it was foolish to stay in Iraq when the al-Qaeda was nowhere to be found there. All they're doing is piddling about under the watchful eye of Bush. It's useless and if they're not killing innocent civilians in vain, they're dying in vain.
The terrorists are starting to re-group for ANOTHER attack on America, and I'm seeing this as a message for America to leave right now!

Saving American lives, and not spending 12 billion a month acting as a police force in someone else's war. Having our troops rested and healthy and able to respond to actual threats, rather than being tied up in a war where we're not even one of the sides. Being able to spend 100 billion a year on something else at home -- like immigration control, health care, or actual counter-terrorism against the terrorists groups scattered all over the world.
And if you ask the troops (and their families), their morale would be much higher if they knew they were coming home than if they were told they're being left over there for an indefinite number of years.
But, on the flip side, what positive benefits does the US get from leaving them over there with no end in sight? What have we gained in the past three years that we could not have gotten with tens of thousands of fewer casualties?

What is to be gained by being the targets in a perpetual conflict of ideology?
Please remember, Iraq was never a "country" until it 's borders were artificially derived. Hence there is no unity and truly no chance they will ever be a singular nation.
We should focus on a three-state option with the help of regional neighbors if we wish to have a chance at a semblance of stability.

Well, what exactly do we get from keeping them there? More American deaths, and more chaos in iraq. And not spending billions of dollars. If we pulled them out, we could spend that money on immigration, helathcare, and actual counter-terrorism.
There is no evidence that the iraq war is doing anything to deter terrorism, and infact al-qaida is actually better off now.

The other part of your question would be 'what would we lose by staying in iraq'.
1) more American lives
2) lives of Iraqis
3) more wasted money
What would be gained;
1) more time for gwb & uncle dick to ride out the clock
2) more money for private contractors
3) breeding future generations of people with ill-will to the US
hmmmm ...weigh the facts before you ride a false premise.

Why the hell aren`t you over there. Then you would understand. Fighting or peace is like screwing for virginity. The government want`s to fight and everyone belives the government is right. Lets fight the politicians instead. Send those bastards and their kids over there. I`d be willing to bet there is very few politicians kids in there. It would be interesting to see the stats on this though

I love people who want to "stay the course" in Iraq.
Exactly what "course" would that be? Can anyone answer that question? A slogan without a strategy is just hot air.

When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging. This is how I see Iraq. We are at the bottom of a 5 year hole and we want to keep digging. Why not climb out of the hole and salvage what you can.

People really don't get car-bombed at Fort Bragg, NC or Camp Pendleton. So, me not getting car-bombed, I think that would be a positive. I kind of like not being dead.
