Bushek signed a contract with Aluminum Window Products Company to replace the windows and wooden window frames of his house with new ones made of aluminum. The salesperson asked Bushek to sign a ‘routine form’ to help assure that credit would be granted. The following day he read the ‘routing form’ and discovered that he had, in fact, pledged the entire house as security, and if he defaulted on payments, the house could be taken from him.

My question is
1. Is the contract Bushek signed legal?
2. Does Bushek have the right to cancel the contract?
3. If Bushek decides to cancel the contract, is he liable for damages?

Ever since High School I've been thinking about joining the Air Force since it provides excellent training, good educational benefits, health benefits, and if I work hard I can retire while still relatively young. However, everyone I knew always said not to join the military, so I put it off.

However, I recently had my first child (she's about 6mo old), and so I'm thinking about it again since it provides a lot of security for her. Plus, and least I would get training and educational assistance that'll help me with a career outside the military, and at most it could turn into a career.

I'm just scared that I might be jumping into something without really thinking about it, so can anyone give me advice? Like, should I wait till she's older? Or what would be the pros and cons for me joining? Should I do it at all?

ABC News' Teddy Davis and Lindsey Ellerson Report: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., told Planned Parenthood Tuesday that sex education for kindergarteners, as long as it is "age-appropriate," is "the right thing to do."

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2007/07/sex-ed-for-kind.html#comment-76390472

Mitt Romney responded:

"How much sex education is age appropriate for a 5-year-old? In my mind, zero is the right number," Romney said Wednesday night at a fundraising dinner for the El Paso County Republican Party in Colorado.

Romney's campaign later released a statement touting the former Massachusetts governor and criticizing Obama. The headline on the statement: "A record of promoting abstinence, not sex education for kindergartners"

I've noticed that some of the conservative posters here like to boast about having a college education, yet for some reason, they also like to complain about the left-leaning professors who make up the majority of academia. For some reason, this just strikes me as being rather self-contradictory. After all, don't they have their liberal professors to thank for the degrees they're so proud to have?:)

By the way, in case you're wondering, I am a university-educated Democrat.

If possible, can I have informed answers on this and not opinions of lay people? And note, this is under Scottish law so Americans needn't bother. I don't need to know how it works in any state of the US.
I'm selling my flat in Aberdeen with what I understood, and had agreed with my solicitor, to be a completion date of the 20th (otherwise known as tomorrow). Without my knowledge, and indeed I only found out completely by accident, the completion date was altered to the 27th of July.
I'm still furious that they've done this, and I want to know if,

A. Can they do this legally?
B. Do I have any legal challenge against their acting without consulting me?

Thanks for any assitance.

So, I rear-ended someone today and they had a newer car. They took all of my info necessary and we left it at that. Off we both drove. There was some damage to their vehicle but I think they wanted to just keep it away from their insurance company. It was a quick exchange and no police were called because neither of us had a phone and it was taking a while. What recourse are they entitled to if any??? Is it possible they can file a claim and get it resolved through my insurance without a police report?

Apparently, some people think so:

Wednesday, July 18, 2007; B01

On a narrow, leafy street in Northwest Washington, where Prius hybrid cars and Volvos are the norm, one man bought a flashy gray Hummer that was too massive to fit in his garage.

So he parked the seven-foot-tall behemoth on the street in front of his house and smiled politely when his eco-friendly neighbors looked on in disapproval at his "dream car."

It lasted five days on the street before two masked men took a bat to every window, a knife to each 38-inch tire and scratched into the body: "FOR THE ENVIRON."

Now, as Groves ponders what to do with the remains of his $38,000 SUV, he has been the target of a number of people who have driven by the crime scene in his upscale neighborhood and glared at him in smug satisfaction

Neighbor Lucille Liem, 37, who owns a Prius hybrid, said that a common sentiment in the neighborhood is that large vehicles are impractical and a strain on the Earth -- and Hummers in particular are a symbol of consumer excess.

"The neighborhood in general is very concerned with the environment," said Liem, whose Prius gets about 48 miles a gallon compared with the Hummer's 14 miles a gallon. "It's more liberal leaning. It's ridiculous to be driving a Hummer."

Bought car on ebay after seeing 3 photos and full listing + long chat with seller on phone. (yes i know) - should have seen it before i bid. Anyhow - he asked for a small deposit . Deposit not mentioned in listing nor discussed as non refundable.

Went to get car over 200 miles away. Got there and it was a wreck , not like photos at all both physically or mechanically. Worth less than i paid for it. So he basically missold it and lied. He had the £300 of mine and said he was ok to refund as had another buyer if needs be and would return by paypal that evening. I offered to pay his listing fee and he agreed.

Long story short he kept stalling, saying he waould pay soon, or its in the post but then got threatening and said never going to payback. He has done to others on ebay as seen in his feedback.

Claiming £300 + costs etc = £460. I have collected all evidence up and followed process and looks like he wont even respond to my claim. Will i win and how do i enforce best?

My roommate is going to take me to small claim's court. Her sister "is a lawyer". So I guess she thinks she has a case.
Short scenario: We were on the same lease at an apartment complex. All the utilities are in her name. And we broke the lease (through a 60 day notice) and now she's getting the utility bills and wants me to pay half of them.
Full scenario: She couldnt afford our apartment anymore, so she put in a 60 day notice wout my knowledge. Its not binding until I sign it. So she told me she'd pay to break the lease ($1000) by herself if I would just sign the 60 day notice. So I did. She went back on her word and told me I had to pay half of the lease breaking. & I did bc it affects my credit. So she wants me to pay half the utilities too which are all in her name. And, unless those things add up to more than $1000 ... Im not paying shiat.

If she has a case ... can I counter sue for my half of the lease breaking? will I need a lawyer if she gets one?
