Apparently, some people think so:

Wednesday, July 18, 2007; B01

On a narrow, leafy street in Northwest Washington, where Prius hybrid cars and Volvos are the norm, one man bought a flashy gray Hummer that was too massive to fit in his garage.

So he parked the seven-foot-tall behemoth on the street in front of his house and smiled politely when his eco-friendly neighbors looked on in disapproval at his "dream car."

It lasted five days on the street before two masked men took a bat to every window, a knife to each 38-inch tire and scratched into the body: "FOR THE ENVIRON."

Now, as Groves ponders what to do with the remains of his $38,000 SUV, he has been the target of a number of people who have driven by the crime scene in his upscale neighborhood and glared at him in smug satisfaction

Neighbor Lucille Liem, 37, who owns a Prius hybrid, said that a common sentiment in the neighborhood is that large vehicles are impractical and a strain on the Earth -- and Hummers in particular are a symbol of consumer excess.

"The neighborhood in general is very concerned with the environment," said Liem, whose Prius gets about 48 miles a gallon compared with the Hummer's 14 miles a gallon. "It's more liberal leaning. It's ridiculous to be driving a Hummer."

Most libs will say this is the exception, not the rule. Or that you are generalizing.

Being a lib may not cause one to be an extreme environmentalist. However I've never met an extreme environmentalist that wasn't a lib.

These are the people who burn books, lynch blacks, gas ethnic minorities, arrest the "capitalists" and put them in slave labor camps like Kolyma.

They are the people who fear the right of honest folk to keep and bear arms with very good cause - for the Hummer owner should have been able to defend his property.

It is a wry concept that the environment is assisted by destroying manufactured goods, as opposed to making them last. What this is really about is control. The control that kept black folk away from the good farms and so on, in the worst parts of the South.

This is an evil and if the "broken windows" are permitted to go unpunished, then we will see lawlessness driven, as here, by envy and greed.

So there is no right for people to vandalize Hummers.

This is B.S. because the GOP refuses to take the blame for the real leader of their party - Fox News, and more specifically - the mindless Fox News sheep who watch the fake news channel and then vote. No liberals are doing this - we're letting the real nut bags do it on their own. Oh, and how's that whole Scott Brown thing workin' out for ya?

If the people who did it walk every where they go, grow their own food, don't have lights and running water in their home, don't go shopping or to the movies, don't attend public schools, etc then they may have had the right. I think it is rediculious for a person to drive on of those (I am not secure with my...) huge things to get groceries but they are within their legal rights. Who in the US doesn't contribute to the usage of oil? I see dependance on other countries as a problem, not global warming, so I think I should be somewhat responsible for cutting my usage down but you don't have the right to make me.

The fact that everybody is assuming that liberals did it is just wrong!

Also, what does the actions of those men have to do with liberals? I really don't see the connection here... oh wait. The environment. So everybody who automatically cares about the environment is a liberal.

So now people are going to say that all liberals bash cars.
I guess it's better than trying to bomb abortion clinics like ALL conservatives do!

whether you are the gay boy scout or the only atheist on the block you catch grief from the majority. Its a shame but given my leanings I did laugh a bit.
The amazing thing is I like living in washingon because back east I always felt like everyone was in your business. Looks like everyone absolutely everyone is intolerant.
I bought a BMW in a parking lot full of trucks and caught grief over it. My buddies like to snatch my keys and adjust the seats as if someone is driving my car around. Nothing crazy like this hummer incident but if I had some enemies at work I could see this happening.

I have to agree with mymadsky on this. Only after smashing into about 10 prius's to show how dangerous these cars are, I would fire up the chainsaw and drop a bunch of trees on the remaining others to show just how dangerous those trees really are.

Liberals think they are doing the collective good. These are people who disagree with individual rights, including the right to property.

Of course not. If you disagree with a woman who wants to get an abortion, does that give you the right to harass and throw things at her outside an abortion clinic? Or if you're pro-life, does that give you the right to burn down an abortion clinic?

Apparently some conservatives think so.

Making a generalization about an entire group of people based upon the actions of a few is ridiculous.

Ridiculous or not no one can dictate what kind of car or house or color of your hair,or underarm deodorant you buy or use . This is the USA freedom of whatever......move to a 3rd world country if you don't like it and see how it feels to be made to do things the governments way.

Figures. This is what happens when Al Gore, Greenpeace and ELF get together to "help the environment"

Just for that, I'm going to burn some plastic in my backyard. And maybe a tire.

Another great question by Dead Marxist.
