I live in Malibu. Contrary to popular opinion most of here are not rich. The State of CA is soon to require us to install new septic systems at a cost of approx. $350,000. This will be required all over the State of Ca to anyone with a septic system.
How in the world will there even be enough contractors let alone how will we get the money???

I'm receiving Workers Compensation because of an on-the-job-accident, can I legally draw Unemployment Benefits as well? Aren't they two completely separate benefits that have nothing to do with each other? Is there a possibility I could get in trouble in any way?

Extra Info: I've already been receiving Workers Comp checks and benefits for about 6 weeks, but they are going to end within the next 3. Plus, I've already applied for Unemployment and was APPROVED. In approving my case, they must have seen that I'm drawing Workers Comp, right?

I just don't want o take ANY chances on this, as I have no burning desire to see the inside of a jail (or prison). Anyone who has CONCRETE knowledge on this subject, I would appreciate your input.

Basically to make a long story short, he abused my 2 month old daughter, causing hospitalization for 8 days. He broke 19 ribs and beat her with a bottle. Anyways, the plea bargain is anywhere from 7 years in the Department of Corrections to probation. Does anyone have a clue as to what the likelyhood is that he will have to go to prison? I don't think I could handle this emotionally if he walks with probation!

Their are already 23 Islamic states not including Palestine. Their is one Jewish state. Muslims claim Jerusalem is their holy land but in the Koran it is not mentioned once while in the Jewish Bible it is mentioned over 500 times? Even when Clinton came close to having peace, Arafat rejected it, making it obvious that he had no intentions on peace, while Israel gave him pretty much everything he wanted including a part of Jerusalem, something they did in the past and the Palestine's than tried to take country of the whole country. Overall I just don't understand why people can say Israel should be Palestine, when Israel was Jewish land before Islam was a religion.

Extraordinary rendition" is a term the American ruling elite has introduced into the world's political lexicon. Under this criminal program, the CIA and other US government agencies seize and transfer foreign nationals to countries where torture is commonplace or to secret US-run facilities on foreign soil where similar conditions prevail. The program has been in effect since at least the early 1990s during the Clinton administration, according to the ACLU complaint, but the September 11 terrorist attacks provided the pretext for its vast expansion.

i agree with eating places, but pubs and clubs should be left to owners choice, and display a sign in the window by law, eg; smoking, none smoking. after all this is meant to be a free country, people lost their lives for it,they would be turning in their graves now. exhaust fumes what has happend to cat converters, are they not working now. we are a blot on the landscape, unless usa and china listen whats the point of taxing us. i think we are being robbed by the goverment and we just sit back and allow it, it wouldnt happen in france, the taxing that is.

I am (bordering on was) a Democrat, and all I see from the leaders (and the rank and file) of my party is more of the same crap that I saw when the Repubs were in power (Rep. William Jefferson anyone?), just with a slightly different flavor.

So I ask, is my party just as full of hypocrites and liars, and, if so, are they really then any better than the Republicans?

currently the public school systems are going down the tubes, an the expenses are rising faster from the Energy companys for gas and Electricity. Every state has the same problem state wide for funding the school on yearly budgets. We have the answers to help the situation, here in our country. Do we have to outsource this answer also. The state budgets are being passed with higher numbers each year, so why not find a American way to stop the rising expenses and maybe even lower then and also help the electric company's make more elelctricity. Putting up Wind Generation units accross each Dst. evenly in each state where enough wind is produced can knock the bills down for the school systems, and any extra electricity made can be bought back by the local electric companys at local rates for credit to the schools. Right now the electric companys have to barrow a lot of electricity from other states, at much higher prices, lets put a dent in this problem, for our kids future!

I know they include healthcare costs and enforcement costs. What else is included? Also, are these costs net of any benefits that we derive from their work (like the proverbial cheaper tomatoes, etc) or do we just accept the numbers at face value?

May I ask why do police officers answer about other police who rapes, sexual harasses women saying that the woman were really asking for it. Same with when a police abuses his wife, I've notice some police here again, blame the woman from saying she was asking for it and will return within hours, jim h treats sexual harassment and abuse of women by police as a causal matter, why the fuss. Do all police have this attitude-
jim h

if she didn't mind?
WHY NOT?

Is this sound reasoning from anyone professing to police officer that it is all the womans fault???????????

Our music group signed a contract that required us to pay a sum of money to partner with the company to record a CD and distribute it. The contract specifically states that distribution will be provided through a major distributor (WB). Now, due to some changes in the company, they may try to go back on their "word" in writing. Is the contract binding enough to force their hand in distributing the project, or can we ask for a refund?

I like how no one mentioned about the possiblity of the JFK attack actually succeeding. Here are some quotes from DHS and experts in the field commenting on the attack
Despite their efforts, the men never obtained any explosives, authorities said.
"Pulling off any bombing of this magnitude would not be easy in today's environment," former U.S. State Department counterterrorism expert Fred Burton said, but added it was difficult to determine without knowing all the facts of the case.
Richard Kuprewicz, a pipeline expert and president of Accufacts Inc., an energy consulting firm that focuses on pipelines and tank farms, said the force of explosion would depend on the amount of fuel under pressure, but it would not travel up and down the line.
"That doesn't mean wackos out there can't do damage and cause a fire, but those explosions and fires are going to be fairly restricted," he said.
Just another case of conservatives trying to play the fear card.

The swore an OATH to defend the CONSTITUTION of the United States. When Bush does his signing statements, or when they got rid of Habeaus Corpus (You no longer have the right to a trial in America, or hear the evidence against you) THE MILITARY OF THIS COUNTRY DID NOTHING. In fact they ACTUALLY SALUTE the people who are destroying the very Constitution they SWORE AND OATH to defend. Pretty sad. Meanwhile we have less rights and these boneheads are going around saying they are protecting our freedoms? I feel sorry for any of them who haven't figured out they are just oil puppets and meat for the grinder.
