GARY -- On the same day Patrolman Levi Randolph was indicted in the shooting death of an unarmed teen, he was admitted to Methodist Hospital Northlake campus for psychiatric evaluation after threatening to hurt himself, police said Monday.
Lake County police arrested Randolph, 37, Sunday at the hospital here, booked him in to the Lake County Jail and later relocated him to the Porter County Jail in Valparaiso where he is being held on $4,000 cash bond, Lake County police spokesman Michael Higgins said.

Higgins said Randolph was moved to keep him away from inmates who would recognize him as a Gary officer.

Within hours of the grand jury indictment charging Randolph with reckless homicide, the five- year veteran officer threatened to hurt himself, Deputy Chief Thomas Papadakis said.

"He wrote a letter," Papadakis said.

Randolph was admitted to the hospital's psychiatric unit, police said.

After hearing Randolph and others testify, the Lake County grand jury decided to charge the officer in the death of Vincent Smith, 16.

Smith was shot in the back of the head as he fled from Randolph, who went to a Wabash Avenue home where neighbors reported a burglary in progress Jan. 15, 2006.

Randolph told police supervisors after the shooting he ordered Smith to stop, but the teen ran, climbed a fence and refused to show his hands.

When the teen reached in his sweatshirt pocket, Randolph fired, saying later he was in fear for his life.

Smith had apparently been inside his cousin's vacant home on Wabash Avenue before police arrived. The victim's family is suing the city.

Long before he was hired on the police department, Randolph was charged with shooting Kenneth Sutton, then 17. In 2005, Randolph was acquitted of an attempted murder charge. He testified he fired in self-defense.

Yesterday Robert Alan Soloway, one of the world's top 10 spammers, was arrested. His actions were clearly illegal, using viruses to create zombie computers that would send e-mail after e-mail out. His charges also seem to include identity theft.

But is all spam a crime? Is all spam even bad? Spam is essentially just junk mail, right? While I throw away most of the junk mail the post office delivers to me, every now and then I use some pizza coupons, or learn of a new business in my area that I decide to check out. There is nothing wrong with advertising through the mail. You cannot, however, send unsolicited pornography through the mail. To me it makes sense that a business that produces videos for web pages, for example, should be able to seek out companies they perceive as potential clients and send them an e-mail explaining their services. I don't even mind THAT much the occasion "Lower your interest rate."

So my question is simply this: Where should the lines be drawn?

I ask a question asking why liberals do stuff and instead of saying, well I am liberal and I don't agree with that statement OR saying well I am liberal and don't hold that view OR saying I am liberal and think you are totally wrong, instead I get attacked? I don't see conservatives getting so mad when a question is posed about a viewpoint that's against the GOP. Why are liberals so angry? I have family members who are liberals but they don't get so upset. We can actually have a civil conversion about politics without someone taking offense. I watch CNN and it doesn't make me blow a gasket because I don't agree with many of the anchors viewpoints.

Ray Tummel is a emotionally distrubed person (EDP) that the OHIO NATIONAL GUARD does not release. He has violated civil and criminal laws and is currently under criminal indictment with New York for sexual abuse and harrassment.
Why do they still keep him? One of his supervisors said he is a model employee. Write the Governor of Ohio and tell him to stop wasting taxpayers money. What else can we do to sever this waste of good taxpayers money?

Military medical benefits are not the greatest!!!
I get a total of $575 per month for my years of service! Brag about that my friends.
I lost alot of friends, and a brother in Nam!
Hell, Lets see how many others want to earn a whoping 575 per month! It's sensless!

Hi
I am working in england on work permit. According to contract, employer wants me to give 2 month notice.

I gave employer 15 days notice and i am ready to buy notice period. I have offered them money for 1 and half month.

Employer is saying they cannot relieve me and i have to serve 2 months notice.I cannot buy notice period.

Also, they are threating that they will inform home office to cancel my new work permit.

is it right or they are just threatning me?

My son was in a car accident. He was broadsided in a parking lot as the other guy cut across empty spaces. Because of the parked cars, neither saw the other until they hit. The cop seemed to know the other driver and, although the physical evidence is very clear, he wrote the report up blaming my son.

I don't think this is having any impact from an insurance perspective (even my insurance company says the police report just can't be correct) and there weren't any tickets. But it still upsets me that the report reads this way. Other than talking to the officer (which I'm doing tonight), what are my options for getting this corrected?

My husband was in the Navy, Special Forces SBU during the first Gulf War. He was honorably medically dishcharged. He has medals and ribbons put in a drawer. I was going to put them in a shadow box for him, but he said he doesn't want them on display. Why? He isn't very clear when I ask him.
