I hear the liberals want to go back to having gas lines. If you look back to the 70's you'd realize that gas prices haven't kept up with inflation compared with the vehicles it goes into.
What are you going to do when the energy crisis collides with the baby-boomers' retirement bill? Do most of you even consider what I'm asking? Do you consider what effect it will have on Social Security, IRA's, 401K's, the economy in general. For over a year I've been putting this into YA & no one has picked up on it. Am I a lone voice speaking into the wind?

There is apparently no real way to probe high gas prices and any such talk is nothng more than political postering leading up to the elections. There have umpteen so called probes that have revealed absolutely nothing. Why would that change now?

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the oil companies to explain why a critical commodity such as gas is skyrocketing in price while their profits are also becoming astronomical.

You bet. Everyone knows the refineries are setting the prices by controlling their output.
Someone needs to get after these folks and break up their monopoly.

what's the harm in looking to make sure it is truly just a product of the free market and not a product of dirty corporate dealings?
I do think it should be done by a neutral third party though.

Liberal legislation against the oil industry in the past made it impossible for small competitive oil companies to stay in business therefor merging together made good business sense. Now we have to live with it. Ironic, a liberal is complaining about the result of liberal legislation. ha
