Some good points made. The MEPs do need to be the ones with the powers, and not the Commissioners that set the law.
There has been fraud, like in 1999, where MEPs were going to sack the Commissioners, but they resigned over fraud

It does seem that some countries want a "USE" form of government, others not so much.

I myself think the way the parliament works must be changed, there should be no Commissioners.
All power should go to the MEPs to pass and make the laws.

Right now, though, the EU has been "working" may not be "Great" working, but at least it has overall done some good.

For now, there should be no USE.

Europe is too different; there is no "one size fits all" for common law and economics.

The EUs powers, for now, at the very least should be kept where they are, until a better draft is giving.

A united Europe will happen eventually without a doubt, but I don't think we're ready for it quite yet. And by "we" I mean all Europeans. Currently there are too many dissenting voices, too many dishonest and corrupt politicians, and a European parliament which has far too little influence over what the European Union actually does.

Nation states should only be willing to cede more power to the European Union when the representatives of the people it governs, rather than appointed bureaucrats, have the final say.

No. Not for the foreseeable future. Many countries in the EU are less the 100 years old, in some cases less that 20 years old. These countries have to develop as indpendent countries.

Most of the EU is composed of smaller countries, however the big four countries, Germany, France, UK and Italy would have massive influence on any federalised nation.

There is a massive beuracracy, which to be far the Union is now addressing. Also, certain things are better done on a national level, e.g. corporation tax, foreign aid, etc. If you strip away a country's right to set corporation tax Ireland for example looses a massive advantage it has and France and Germany gain at the loss of Irish and other countries business.

Also the treaties that have been signed are still not fully implemented, these would have to be fullfilled before any advancement can be considered.

The slimmed down constitutional treaty is necessary however if the Union is to effectively work.

Another thing about the EU that they say is that it is more efficent to go through the EU in certain areas, e.g. foreign aid. But efficency and effectiveness are two very different things and individual nations are more effective in this area

EU is not a military organisation.It is only an economic union or arrangement with a common currency Euro and trading arrangements.It has no political control /military/administrative control over its members.It respects the soverignity of member nations.So EU having more powers does not arise.The power of EU is infact the power of Euro.As far as Euro is concerned ,it has surpassed the expectations.It has become more competitive and poweful than US $.Euro is the alternate world currency.The real power of EU ,is the strength of economy of member nations.

You need to read the History, one of the key aims behind the idea of its creation was to take authority away from governments and put it in the hands of 'civil servants' who had no allegiance to country's of their birth but to the Union.

Monet and Cox believed this was the way to stop wars between states in Europe. this idea was first being developed before WW2 but after WW1 so you can see within the context of the late 19th early 20th century following the failure of the league of Nations (pre cursor to the UN) why it might seem a great idea.
Now the giant monolith is so corrupt even those who claim to fight against it are so well paid within it that without a revolution it is unlikely we will ever be able to be independent again.

Its been thought about and debated for years!.

You think we could adopt the Constitution of the united states of America! Its very good and would serve us well.

Unlike the document which was offered a couple of years ago in europe which caused a rift between several of the member states and still cant be agreed upon because of nationalistic egos.

It is not easy to say, the union is not for tomorrow yet because the beginning of europe is rather far, the things go on slowly and all countries are not agree about the preferred system, federation or union and so on ...

I think it would be a good thing to have a strong Europe, prioritarily for europe people, but also for all the world .
I know i won't be loved here, but it is better to have a multipolar world (and i don't speak yet about China who go up for this century).

But it is sure that Europe would be more powerful as a unit than with the contrary power of 27 countries

Definetely!

I'm fed up with national governments, their intransparency, xenophobia and general waste of time with running for elections all the time as their major activity.

I believe our continent's issue will always be resolved together; environment, security, diplomacy, trade, economy ect ect... All these things which any EU country CANNOT affect by itself, but which we can as a joint union.

I do not accept the words united states, the EU is fine and totally different. Nevertheless intergovernmentalism still has a lot of grip on the EU (the council mainly), which slows down the EU and its continuous attempts to improve the lives of every EU citizens. Intergovernmentalism is also to blame for the power that Germany, france and the UK have in creating, insane agricultural subsidies and rebates...

I believe nationalism and religions have created too many issues, we must unite not against others but to be able to interact better with others!

Absolutely 100% NO!!!! Far too much power has been handed over already!!The EU is an insidious political project that threatens the existence of Britain and the well being of the British people. The EU plans to swallow nation states and create a political superstate. Five EU treaties provide for an EU economy, EU Army, police force, legal and judicial system, diplomatic service, taxes, anthem, and flag – in short, all the attributes of a nation state.The unelected bureaucrats of the EU now make over 70% of British laws. These laws are not debated in the British Parliament. They are not in the best interests of the British people. They pass directly on to Britain's statute books. Meanwhile the EU's fiscal house is a mess. The EU's Court of Auditors will not sign off on them. Vast sums of money are unaccounted for, suggesting that millions of pounds of the taxpayers' hard-earned money is disappearing into the pockets of EU kleptocrats. Even when these frauds involve companies set up in Britain by EU operatives, Britain's Serious Fraud Office refuses to investigate. Why should we be dictated to by unelected bureaucrats!! Hard earned money lost to corruption!

I think EU is the replacement of the enemy of USA in cold war The USSR which was taken away by Gorbachev

They haev already enough to scare the US... But still those countries are quite old and have a long history, so getting along together is a pretty hard job to do! So having more powers will results in more divisions among their rank, which will in turn disable them in the long run...
Must reach the right balance, but since they are still "recruiting" new members it is better play conservative at this time to please populations...
