Honestly Security Forces fulfills a requirement to be a field operative for the intelligence agencies. I'm into law enforcement because my dad was an MP and is now a civilian cop.

There's no more Law Enforcment or Security. It's all the same now. I came in as LE, but about a month after I got to my first base we all became one "Security Forces."

You will deploy, especially if you're on flight, which coming right out of training you will be. The flight personnel here go every other 6 months. Later on you'll be able to get into other areas of the job, some bases have customs (overseas) a lot of people try for this position 'cause it's pretty lax, plus it looks good on the outside. There's also K-9 and combat arms (which are the instructors that teach you to shoot.)

Study study study. The little reporting statement you give in basic is nothing compared to the paragraphs some squadron commanders ask for.

Volunteer for things before you're voluntold. You might get a better pick of the thing you have to do.

There are incentives to doing these things and staying on top of your uniform and boots. You could possibly put SrA on 6 months early, which will mean you can test for Ssgt. sooner.

About half way through tech. school you'll get start going downtown (atleast you use to.) It's a lot of fun, but be careful, if you're not 21, do NOT drink. I think all branches of the military are really cracking down on this one.

Don't have 3somes either, someones bound to tell. Just ask the ones just busted in Germany.

First, are you going into Law Enforcement or Security? I was in Law Enforcement for the first 12 years of my military career, then went on to become a first sergeant. You start out in basic, as a nothing, E-1. Once you graduate, you will be going to technical school, which, at least when I was in, is also at Lackland AFB, but in a different area of the base. Once you get your first assignment, you will be a 1 or 3 level. One level is unskilled and 3 level is semi-skilled. You will get CDC's (career development courses) and take an open book written test, after each course. Once you complete the courses and with your supervisors recommendation, you will become a 5 level. You stay a 5 level until you are promoted to staff sergeant, and advance to the 7 level.
