The legal meaning of freedom is freedom from arbitrary deprivation of life, liberty (physical liberty, that is), or property by the State without due process of law. That's what it means. Always and in every case, the key to understanding legal freedom is due process. Freedom does not mean life without rules or restrictions.

Well, then, how can we be free if we can't speed down a highway. How can we be free if we can't drink until 21, or smoke until 18, or vote until 18, or drive until 16? Gotta have rules, man. We can't self regulate.

Very poor logic. It is illegal no matter where you do it. This sounds like a 10 years old childs question. Grow up.
