I ask a question asking why liberals do stuff and instead of saying, well I am liberal and I don't agree with that statement OR saying well I am liberal and don't hold that view OR saying I am liberal and think you are totally wrong, instead I get attacked? I don't see conservatives getting so mad when a question is posed about a viewpoint that's against the GOP. Why are liberals so angry? I have family members who are liberals but they don't get so upset. We can actually have a civil conversion about politics without someone taking offense. I watch CNN and it doesn't make me blow a gasket because I don't agree with many of the anchors viewpoints.

Athena, I listen to a great Libertarian on the radio, Neal Boortz. He turned me to the truth.
I don't want people to think I am conservative either. I am not at all.

I AM NOT A LIBERAL OR A CONSERVATIVE. I HOLD LIBERAL & CONSERVATIVE VIEWS. All of you who have posted that I am posting this as a conservative against liberals take it how you want.
I vote Libertarian the majority of the time. I voted for Bush the first time and it was THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. At least I have the guts to admit that. So don't attack me as a conservative. I don't associate myself with that party, nor the other dominate one.

And no, Boortz did not make my decision. I listen to him just like I listen to liberal and conservative radio. I made my own decision based on my own viewpoints. You are very naive for even posting that. It shows how close mided you are to even attack my beliefs.

I will start using left-wing, right-wing and moderate. But I am sure I will get the same attacks from left-wingers though. I'm sorry that you think when I say Liberal I am attacking you personally. I am attacking and idea, not a person. If I attack a person it is usually a politician. I mean wow, I even got attacked for asking WHY I got attacked. Hmmm, have to just laugh at that one. Thanks to all of the liberals and conservatives and others who made valid viewpoints without attacking me. You are why I have I still have a dot of hope that our country with improve.

I know exactly what your saying I posted a Question awhile back on "S.P.'s in the 2008 election" it wasn't rude or condescending, nothing to be offended by, but the first two responses I got were from far left loons attacking my grammar & education. (I forgot an ' in thats) and a few for saying I should were a tin foil hat etc.. the only real answer came from cons and moderates. Basicaly if they can't disprove your point they turn to insults, "empty vesels make the most noise".

The only question of yours I could see that you could be talking about was the one where you asked why Liberals hate the wealthy. Asides from one or two kind of snide replies, most were very civil and gave good answers, even those that didn't agree with your assertion. This isn't to say that there aren't those who respond to any question that assails their viewpoints with personal negativity. I just don't think it is actually the majority. And it certainly is not the sole province of liberals. Many times you will see conservative answers that are nothing more than baseless attacks on liberals in general or the asker in particular.
Now, if you don't see conservatives being nasty on here, simply read the first answer you got to this question.

You have a right to your voice!
Because people tend to think if they had thier voice heard it would make a difference...
As I remember the elections were dem and rep...they recounted and recounted the Best man got the Position not once but twice!, He walked into a mess Clinton left behind...had Clinton been a Rep.... I'd feel the same but I don't bash all partys because of the mistakes from one member...But I am smart enough to know...the boomarang effect if Hillary makes office again....OH NO MR. Bill will be back..Can America really be that naive??..
There are too many candidates to choose from and America has no reason to put into office yet another so called mistake....
I for one will support President Bush until his term is over because thats what Americans should do...
People seem to forget Clintons mistakes ....or negligence bringing a direct attack on the US how many times, World Trade I....The USS COLE...Okalahoma Bombing...they go on and on!. like during the Clintons ignore the terrorsts reign...
And if any president past or future should go down due to war crimes it should be Clinton for letting OSAMA walk away and not stopping HIM which led to 9-11.....He had Osama within reach and decided to pass the buck.....
Yes President Bush made some mistakes....but the democrats supported them if they are so smart they had plenty of time to build a fight against the actions.......democrats blame on bad intel..but say Bush knew better.... I don't believe that! It isn't President Bush's fault.
I hope and pray God does Bless America because some of the people are surely bringing us down in a spiral!

Why do Bush supporters on Answers find it necessary to attack my opinion (read details, thanks)?

I think you'll find attackers on both sides of the scale and everywhere in between. The ones who are quick to get defensive are usually the ones who are close-minded or incapable of debating reasonably. It is sad that these people don't see that by turning a debate into an argument, they are taking our nation three steps back, wasting time, and increasing the levels of hate in the world. Yuck! Debates should be a good thing. It should be a way for all the facts to be seen and weighed against each other and all views to be considered. From this should come conclusions that push our nation foward.
My short answer is people of every kind attack, and although it's childish and unnecessary, it's life.

I am what would be labeled a liberal and I have noticed that people labeled as neo-conservatives have the same attacking behavior. I am not angry and try not to put labels on people. I think the majority of us all have some liberal and some conservative views. I am registered Green, but do not vote down party lines. I wish people would read others opinions and maybe consider it for a while and if they can't think of anything constructive to say, please move on to the next question.

The CNN anchors are not "liberal," and they aren't selling liberal opinions. They are paid hacks who read teleprompters to the audience, and as a liberal, I find their "script writers" WAY too conservative. They promoted the Patriot Act, they promoted invading Iraq, and now they're promoting anti-immigration policies with which I happen to agree, but which are not liberal, either. The anchors have degrees in Journalism, or Communications, or some other discipline that hardly qualifies them to judge the events they are reporting, much less interpret them. I know they try sometimes, but when they do, the arguments are laughably transparent. That goes double for FOX.

First, I have seen many conservative and/or Republican responses to my (liberal) questions that are mean, vile, and violent. Second, there is a power to anger, a power that is often misrecognized as being "bad." Since the Ancient Greeks's perpetuated the notion of "everything in balance," and that notion was carried through into our scientific, Enlightenment culture, there has been a mistrust of the "logic" of emotions. The problem is that sometimes it makes more "sense" to be angry than it does to be civil. For example, if I see someone making open racial slurs (i'm not saying you are, I'm making a hypothetical), it's (in by my argument) less correct to attempt a "rational" conversation--quick anger is a more "appropriate" response, both for me and the racist.
On the other hand, you make a good point that we seem to be unable to have any sort of conversation (rational or otherwise). This is the fault of both our Western dualist (black/white) philosophical underpinnings, and the one-person, one-vote system that necessarily leads to a polarized two-party system which leads people to view all issues as dualistic, zero-sum games. This system is actually built to discourage compromise, particularly in public discussions of policy and law.

I am neither liberal or conservative. My views are all over the place. But you are only seeing the liberals are attacking you because you are conservative. Many liberals feel they are being attacked as you are. We need to stop listening to people like Rush Limbaugh who talk hate for liberals. He is a drug addict for heavens sakes. It is better to be educated that to think you are educated. I am not picking on you but simply saying, when people don't believe what you say they are only disagreeing with you.

I am a liberal and I often find myself defending my views to people who stereotype every liberal as believing in the same exact things. I don't attack Conservatives, my husband is a conservative, I enjoy civil conversations...and I hate to tell you, but it comes from both sides of the spectrum...I'm shocked you haven't run into any conservatives who spew hate and refuse to answer question...they are every where.
