I've been reading a lot about the roots of liberal democracy as originating in Russeauean republican contract and state theory and as advanced by people like John Rawls...

I've read a lot by their detractors and I'm trying to figure out, out of my own curiosity, how modern usages of liberal are different from the technical, theory-based notion of the idea... and trying to figure out why republicans seem to support Russeauean republicanism but reject egalitarian justice as Rawls saw it...

or any personal opinions about these matters -- I really don't care if you've read this stuff or not, i'm just developing my own understanding however I can

Firstly can I say loud and clear I am not a person who is generally prone to extremes in anything, however I am starting to think that it is now time to return to the death Penalty for certain crimes.
Specifically those sick evil bastards that abduct, molest and murder children.
With the improvements now made in DNA evidance etc the possabilities for a innocent person to be convicted are very slim.
Why should this filth be released back into the community often only to offend again.
Don't we owe it to our children to ensure that once caught they are prevented from ever re-offending again ?
The horrors that these poor kids must go through does not bare thinking about ? Don,t these beasts deserve to be killed ?
I feel that with lots and lots of other crimes rehab is a valid option, but not for this scum, they pose to much of a danger and are, in my opinon, never really cured.
Our children are the most precious people in our world, they have the absolute right to be protected.

I've noticed that more and more of the questions, and in turn answers, are becoming attacks against individual people and against the opposing political party. I myself am guilty of snapping and insulting people, but only when my party is attacked. Why must we keep fighting?

I used to engage in spirited debates with a use named 'Hyperion Monk' . We disagreed on most issues but we kept it civil through email . I'm glad I did , because about a month ago, I got an email from his son telling me that he died and they'd no longer be using that email . Even though I disagreed with him, I'm glad I didn't resort to hateful rhetoric. . . . . just imagine if his son saw an email from me or you that was hateful. . . and saw it at the time of his death !! How bad would you feel then ?

Every generation.. .blames the one before
And all of their frustrations.. . come beating at your door
I know that I'm a prisoner to all my father held so dear
I know that I'm a hostage.. to all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could've told him. . . In The Living Years

Say it loud. . . Say it clear. .. You can lis-ten as well as you hear
It's too late. . . when we die. . . to ad-mit we don't see eye to eye

Here in New York, right after 9/11, the police got millions to spy on ordinary citizens, but the fire department was so underfunded that many station houses were shut down and firemen laid off. Until Hillary stepped up to the plate, the fire department and police still did not have walky -alkies that could communicate with each other.

More funds were given to states that were not obvious targets than the states with clear needs. When real distaters have struck, such as Katrina, it has been clear that homeland security achieves nothing by way of securing the homeland.

Homeland security, from the outset has been a an obvious nest of corruption, pork and bad priorities. Tell us what you know of how funds were spent in your state.

I've been predicting a Republican Presidential Landslide in the 2008 elections because I have much faith that people will have awoken by then(many already have) and will be tired of the anti-Americanism of the Democratic Party . And now, Big Surprise, even the French were tired of their own cowards . How refreshing is that !!

But I ask you, will you vote for a candidate who says he'll provide ambulances if America gets attacked again (Obama foolishly answered this way, as his response to what to do if we get hit again) ?
Will you vote for a candidate who tries anything to play both sides of the fence ? ( Hillary Clinton)

Or
Will you vote for a unifying, yet tough and honorable candidate like Fred Thompson ?
