Or will their new leader simply mean France pushes for an even BIGGER slice of the Brussels pie?

Charles V, Leogirl 0804, and others, you're right; they were/are going the same way as the pre-Maggie UK. Doubtless there'll be riots (any excuse for a riot in France, it seems) but so long as the new bloke sticks to reality and realises USA, UK & the English-speaking nations are less harmful to his own than Russia or the Arab nations, perhaps Islamic demands in the EU will cease. Not holding my breath though.

The French have finally figured out that socialism is the fastest track to ruination that there is. Yes, I am certain that they will seek more handouts and the like, but they should get along better now that the new president favor capitalism over socialism. That nation is totally screwed up. They are on the brink of absolute and total collapse. I wish them well, although I cannot stand their arrogant attitudes to the point that I will not spend 1 cent on any product from that place!

What France needs to do is take seriously the Anglo-Saxon message, get back to work, scrap the 35 hour week and cut back big on the benefits system.

In France, when a citizen goes to the job centre, he/she should not be allowed to continue to turn down jobs just to stay on benefits. I think give people a stark choice, work or get no benefits. If a person turns down job choice number two, they're out in the cold. Why the hell not?

There's going to be trouble on the streets in the suburbs of Paris. So what? Get down there and show them who's boss. The President of France was elected by the people of France to do their bidding. The potential rioters in the suburbs of Paris have not been elected. Give them stick.

France and the French people must change their attitudes. They must stop subsidising their peasant farmers. They must get rid of their peasantry altogether. The English did this soon after the peasants uprising lead by Wat Tyler. Now we're the most efficient farmers on the planet. Not a lie, it's true.

Socialism = deprivation and poverty for all.
Conservatism = wealth and prosperity for all.

Keep buying the shares.

Go France Go!

Of course the French will want more of the Pie. Lets face it we only get the crumbs because we have such a weak leader. The next will not be any better.

Since France was spiraling into a third world nation status, I think they have made a great move to their own survival. It will take time, and the lazy socialist will scream like banshees, just as they do here, but it's a good move.

The riots perpetrated by the left in France, in response to the election results - NOT to in response to any actions taken by the government - only serve to underscore the TRUE intentions of leftists everywhere!!
The leftists are the perpetrators of violence and tyrannical governments in EVERY place where the left is permitted to have do what they want without paying a price for their anti-social behavior.

At last the Europeans are waking up to the fact that socialism is a dead duck and is the cause of most of the ills in todays world.

I really don't know many of the issues that were important in that election. I'd be curious to know.

Electling abigot who wants to institute apartheid is a disgrace to all civilized people--especially in the country that gave birth to the Enlightenment.
