When your significant other is out to sea for a deployment, what kind of special homecoming things do you do? I am a girlfriend and I'm not allowed on base so I can't be there. So I was wondering if when he showed up at my house if I should have something waiting for him. What do you guys do???

as a girlfriend you should be allowed on base for the ships return ceremony. He will give the ship some personal information, and they will issue you a pass. My mother, grandmother and girlfriend all saw me come back, twice

Do you know any of the wives on base? They can get you on base to go to the homecoming. If that is not an option make a big welcome home sign and don't plan anything big. He could want to go out, be dressed up just in case, but he could also want to just veg for a while so make sure you have food and entertainment in the house for him too. Mostly just let him know that you missed him and are glad he is home.

Be there for him cook him his fav meal, light some candles and run him a bath but above all be there for him with a big hug and a huge smile. I put post it notes around the house when i was with my ex giving him clues to find small gifts i had brought him. Dress in something sexy you know you must have a LBD (little black dress) and do all the above just be his rock sometimes the smallest things can mean so much to a person who has been away for a long time. Sometimes i miss being a military girlfriend and everything that comes with it.

Well, some balloons, a banner maybe. Take him out to dinner if he's not too tired.

Usually my first day back from deployment I just wanted to have a good nap!

Depends on the guy though. Some guys might appreciate a party of non-ship friends...after all, he just spent 6 months with the same group of people.
