Supply and demand - basic economics.

Americans have no one to blame but THEMSELVES for the current gas situation. We have a "not in *my* backyard" mentality that has prevented a new refinery being built in 30+ years. Hell, that mentality even spills over to alternative energy - someone wanted to put up a wind farm on the east coast - I want to say Nantucket Sound, but I'm not positive - at any rate, the locals got all up in arms about it.

Yeah, the world market who control the price of oil. Do people not understand that we are not the only developing nation? China is doing a bang up business. So yes, you really do need to blame someone other than this president.

I guess it gwb fault when china and india are driving up demand and that there are not enough refineries to handle our own production needs. That would be the fault of environmentalists, or company owners - That would only be the presidents fault, right?

What action is he supposed to take? Tell the international oil companies to drop prices? If liberal policy makers would allow us to drill in our own country and take off the eco friendly gas additives, you would see a signifigant decrease in gas prices.

Blame China for getting more industrialized and buying more and more gas from the middle east. Also, don't get too upset with rising prices. Compared to other developed western nations, we have low prices.

It is mainly because it is litteraly impossible for the world's oil producers to make enough crude oil to satisfy world demand. The only option is to raise prices.
