While we are bound by certain laws that prevent murder, theft, rape, and other things that are not good for a civilized society, we are generally fairly free. We are allowed to do the following:

1. Have any viewpoint we want and freely express that viewpoint in our speech, petitions to the government, and the media.

2. Own, buy, and use firearms (of course within reason) for hunting, personal protection, target shooting, etc.

3. Travel freely within our country.

4. Choose to pursue any career path we want. This does not mean that you will be successful in any career you want.

5. Choose to attend any church, mosque, temple, synagogue we wish. We can also choose not to attend or participate in any religion.

6. Innocent until proven guilty, we have the presumption of innocence until our guilt can be proven in our legal system.

7. Economic freedom, we can buy, sell, trade, or lease almost any product or service we want. We have a choice in where we buy our products from.

8. All-volunteer military, no one is forced into military service.

9. Equal treatment under the law, the law does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, ethnicity, gender, age, height, weight, etc.

These are just a few freedoms that we have in the United States that are not found in every nation. There are many more.

I know I am free because I can answer your question without fear of being put into a political prisoner camp or some such.

I know I am free because I can choose what to do with my life.

I know I am free because I can choose my religion.

I know I am free because I can choose how to raise and educate my child.

I know I am free because I can leave this country if I want (which I don't).

I know I am free because I can "bash" those with opposing political beliefs if I so choose.

--- Need I go on?

We are not perfect but we are the best thing going.

We have the most freedom of any country on earth.

Could it be better? Yep!

Why do you think these discussions are so lively.

---
Truly free? Not as free as I would like us to be.

While the liberal segment of society has made every effort to reign in our rights, we do have more than most any nation on earth.

1. Travel from state to state without travel papers.

2. Freedom to attend church of our choice

3. Freedom of speech, unless your slamming the liberals, then its hateful.

4. Right to have fire arms, even thought the socialist left wants them melted down so we cant raise up and battle them when they try to take us over. That happened once in our history when we got tired of the British telling us what to do.

5. We can achieve any goal we set our minds too, and only our desire to reach that goal will dampen that spirit. My working partner grew up in the Ghetto of Chicago, pulled himself up, went to school, college and is a successful doctor in a group practice.

Many of these are not allowed in many countries, and its worse if your female. YOU HAVE LESS RIGHTS!!!!

So, the big question is, how many rights do we want to let get taken away and do we really need someone as socialistic as Hillary driving our Nation????

No, The socialists keep eating away at our freedoms by moving more control of our lives to the government in the name of "The good of the people".and forcing their ideals on everyone. People need to take care of themselves and be responsible and accountable for their actions. The elite in our country want to tell us what to say, what to eat, how to dress, how to raise our kids, how to work, how to play, etc. It would be fine if it were just their opinion, but they use the government to make it law.

Compared to other countries we have quite a bit of freedom. RKBA is the "canary in the coal mine" of a government run by the people. Most other countries "canaries" went belly up long ago.

Freedom is sort of a loaded term. But, true freedom means what our constitution says... "...life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". It is impossible to have a thriving culture without laws and rules, so all freedom to some extent is limited, but I do feel like I have freedom as an American.

Judging by some of the contributors here, some Americans have the most shackled minds of anyone I've ever come across.

But hey, I guess they're free to show themselves up.

Not completely free, but we're a hell of a lot freer than most countries. You can basically do anything you want within reason.

Yes, we are truly free. We can say what we want, do what we want when we want, and go where we want. Of course we are not free to infringe on the freedom of others. But other than that we are indeed free and have been spreading freedom throughout the world. I think that's pretty cool.

Because we are. Of course there are laws that we must follow - how else could we all co-exist without them? We are free to make our own decisions, to decide our own destiny. So yes we our free.
