well they wouldn't feel obligated if everyone was on the same program paid for by tax dollars because it wouldn't be necessary. I would much rather have it come from my taxes and be a lower copay and no premiums out of my paycheck.

It depends on how it is structured. If the public is just farmed out to private insurance companies then yes, it will. If the government engages in direct negotiations with health care providers then no.
The cost of the care of the uninsured is being paid by higher costs charged to the insured - your employer is most likely looking for a way out of providing health care - since the costs are growing so significantly as more and more people become uninsured or get socked with huge deductibles they can't pay.

Corporations won't have to provide Health care to their employees via private system anymore, so most people would think this. But that money would end up being taxed as income for that particular corporation.
I, for one, am all for a Universal Health care. This helps middle-low class families so much. They've been ignored by Bush for (then) 8 years. Someone should at least pay some attention to them, since they're the majority.

I don't know if it would put more money in their pockets but I do know that it would take a lot more money out of your pocket and mine . Nothing is free, someone has to pay for universal health care so it falls on the working person(middle class) to pay the biggest part of the taxes to cover the cost. Countries like Germany have this type of health care and the working people see as much as 50% to 60% of their wages go for taxes.

Universal healthcare is only ONE alternative to the current system. There are many others. Check out www.hcfa.org to educate yourself.
Short answer to your Q is NO, the economics show otherwise - but it DOES depend on how the legislation is crafted, and THAT'S where we as citizens need to be heard clearly and loudly. DON'T PUNT TO CORPORATE INTERESTS.
By the way, the current US system is costing jobs. Foreign investment in other industrial countries is more attractive for some manufacturers because of the fact that health care is NOT part of their cost equation, in every Western country other than the US.

We need to quit inflating government. Jesus Christ. And NO the middle class hasn't been ignored on health care coverage for eight years by the Bush Administration. You can thank special interests.....Oh say ......labor organizations for one, for not allowing several small business health plan initiatives to pass. Their excuse(well the ones democrats used was because they offered tax shelters).Where they got the money to line ppl's pockets on this matter however is beyond me. I know this because i was involved directly with this issue. Universal health care is a very bad idea ladies and gentleman.

One of the reasons health care is so costly is that our current structure allows for it to be so costly. When I lived in Europe I actually got my prescriptions at the pharmacy cheaper than my co-pay here in the states (there I also got name brand whereas here I have to get generic).

You really don't want any more government control over anything, as everything they get their hands into gets screwed up, and gets to be a never ending fight over financing.
Look into the disadvantages over the Canadian Health system. The Canadian government has final decision over who gets what, depending on age, and probable life expectancy.

Yes it will. It will increase their profits, and your take home will be raped by an additional 30%. But in order to cut cost that operation you needed will not be covered due to your age. Have a nice day.
