Why do the marijuana referendums keep failing?

Why can't people think logically about our existing drug laws?

Why can't people see the harshness of our existing laws?

Does it make sense to send fully employed, harmless people to jail with violent criminals?

From the perspective of individual freedoms, does it make sense for the Gov't to tell us that we can't smoke marijuana?

Why is it that people keep voting against marijuana laws?

Why is it that people are so closed to this issue?

Caring only about her own selfish desire to stay in this country, Elvira Arellano has used her son as a human shield to tug at the heartstrings of Americans and our elected officials. Hoping to escape punishment for the crimes she has committed, this woman shows that not even the welfare or the emotional stability of her son will stop her.

While most children are happily in school, 7-year-old Saul Arellano must do his mothers bidding:

“Gross pandering” is putting it mildly. This smacks of child neglect and child exploitation. To allow this child to travel without his mother and then to shove him in front of cameras to make a case for his mother’s crimes is, now at the top of the list of crimes this woman has committed. When will our government put an end to the exploitation of this child?

If you are innocent until proven guilty as the law says, why do they arrest you, put you in jail, release you on bail or bond? Or, if you can't put up bail you have to remain in jail? Why? Isn't a person innocent until proven guilty? The courts and those who make the laws are corrupt? Agree or disagree?

Remember back a couple of years and Bush and Blair used the pretext of Saddam having WMDs as an excuse to invade Iraq. Only trouble was the UN said he didn`t and time has proved that he hadn`t had anything serious since the mid nineties. But hey, UN approval for the war to be legal wasn`t going to stop these two, they just invaded anyway. So here we are in 2006 and every night we get more images of our soldiers being killed and horrifically injured for a war that has no purpose. The people of Iraq are living in squalid conditions and the constant fear of death from death squads. Iraq is now crying out for a strong man to take control of the country, you know one who has the unquestionable respect of the military and the police and is feared by the populace. You know, just like the guy we illegally deposed to start all this mess. The only people winning out of all this are the muslim fanatics who have great recruiting material. So shouldn`t those responsible be brought to account?

Considering that Sadam has already been tried (justice was served), and considering that our troops are being killed at will by an elusive enemy made up of perhaps the majority of the people in Iraq, I feel we should leave. The mission has been accomplished, and we have no business getting involved on the civil war of another country.

What exactly is their gripe? Is there a root cause for all the animosity over there? I mean if we asked "what can we do to stop you from being pissed off and attacking us" would there be a simple and direct answer? If so, what?

I have tons of education (2 masters degrees, and I am almost finished with a PhD)--I could work or teach in most any country in the world. The difficult part is finding a work visa in another country--just like immigrants coming here to the USA.

Can't we just work out a trade of some sort?

Look at the mess we are in at this time! Gas prices skyrocketed since Bush took over! Even though we invaded Iraq for the PURPOSE of oil and yet the price of oil still went up!!!!! Then you have all the mess going on in Iraq that now it's obvious we're losing the war and everyday at least one of US soldiers die along with innocent civilians in Iraq. So did Saddam did such a poor job running his own country???
