THE PEOPLE IN THE GOVERNMENT WOULD HAVE TO GO FIGHT

There wouldn't' be any. How many politicians, or elitists, or there kids ever fight in a war. There might be a few, but not enough. It's like the old saying " What if they had a war, and nobody showed up" ? But through the history of time, it seems like there has always been enough crazies that want to kill something.

Ask the Soviets when Russia was a communist country. Or current China.
The men would be drafted, and a country without defenders would become someone elses country very quickly, only to have their defenders protect their new found land.
It wouldn't be much of a war, it would be like the Nazis taking Poland like 1939. They marched right in.

It has only been the last few decades that males were not forced to serve in the military. In other countries, their still is a draft (such as South Korea and Israel)

Good question, another option would be for the government to forcfully enlist young men who are of fighting age to join the army.

They would institute compulsory service.
Let me suggest a way for avoiding war that was suggested to us by one of this nations great leaders:

You wouldn't have to worry about being forced to fight in a war. Without anybody to defend you, you would become a slave.
And slaves are not allowed weapons.

What fight, America wouldn't have to keep fixing the messes the rest of the world starts, if other countries had no armies. We don't start wars we just win them!
