With the increase in power our government has awarded itself through the "Patriot Act" and the elimination of Habeaus Corpus. I'm not too sure this Iron Curtain between Mexico and us is such a good idea, how about you?

I support the legalization of all drugs. I think it would be a smarter allocation of our resources if we enforced Draconian laws regarding the consequences of stoned, tweeked, smacked or drunken behavior.
If you decide to get impaired while at home, that's your business. But if you decide to operate a vehicle and you are caught, then you face jail time, a heavy fine and forfeiture of the vehicle you are driving.
Drug culture seems to be more a demand-side problem than a supply-side problem.

For several years the court appointed conservators prevent me from knowing my grandfathers health. Do I have any rights? Where can I find help without paying tons of money to an attorney. Sometimes this is very difficult because the conservator now is my so -called mother.
She has made my life hell but mostly she does not care nor pay any attention to his wants and needs. His doctor appeases the conservator and told the nurse tonight not to tell me anything. Can they do this? What can i do?

Hey guys,
I passed the preliminary written psch test to become a police cadet. They tested my hair for drugs and I just went to orientation. With that being said...I know I am going to fail my drug test for marijuana. After orientation I told the lead dectective of recruit investigations of my situation and he said, "we'll look at your test." and shook my hand. I hate an interview with a detective comin up and just wondering what you guys think my chances are for getting on? I wrote in my file to be handed into the dectective that I know it was wrong and all that. I also said, "I view my stint of drug use as a scar in my life. It wil always be there but there is a lesson to be learned from it. It is a scar that WILL NOT be reopened."
Thanks!

This is not the first war the US has lost but doesn't mean that it will be the last war they've fought.

Will the US finally stop destroying people's lives under whatever pretexts of democracy, freedom, liberation, oil and greed?

Why do we have to put up with other races who come to us soil that can't speak the language here in America. It is really tiring to go to a store and buy something and ask for help with a employee there who can't speak the language here in America. Its frustrating!!

americans are always called racist against mexicans in this forum so can mexicans also be called racist for being american haters? or is it just white people in america that can only be racists? and should i be ashamed that i was born with white skin?

My best friend lives in Penticton,BC. Her parents are completely unfit to be, well, parents. They have drug problems, they drink, and recently her mother has been diagnosed with Lukemia. It is being treated in Vancouver where her father stayes with her 85% of the week while my friend stays at her home and takes care of her sister. She is 16 years old, and she wants to move out and live with me in Calgary, Alberta. However, she does not want her parents to go to jail or get in any trouble. I was wondering what the laws are and how she could go about this. Thanks.

My public high school orchestra which is located in the United States is scheduled to perform 'Hatikvah', the national anthem of Israel, at a large, public performance in New York City. Do you feel that this is an appropriate performance piece? Consider the controversial political and religious implications of the piece and the performing group. Thanks for your feedback.

As opposed to mindless nationalism?

I've seen questions and answers at YA recently that made patriotism look like a mental illness. Any insights as to how love of country evolves into seething, salivating lunacy? And what's the end result of that?

Americans voted for change on Iraq in the last two weeks. I happen to think Bush's strategy was the best option we have, but the majority disagrees. So I want to hear from you more enlightened, educated people, what is the best course of action to win the war in Iraq?

Morons who respond with one line remarks such as "Bush sux" or "we never should've went in the first place" are not welcome.

As secretary of state, who did a better job?

2006-11-13 16:05:04 · 14 answers · asked by Anonymous in Politics

I landed a cool, new job at a law library, however, it's in the downtown area where transients are quite ubiquitous.

This evening, a fellow came up to me as I was going into a 7-11 asking me for change. He said that he was behind his rent for three days and needed all the change he could get. I gave him the contents of my change pocket in my wallet and went on my way.

As I boarded the trolley to go home, I saw him on there, asking people for money. He looked a little ragged; his feet were dirty, etc. Something told me that he was probably asking for change to buy either drugs or booze.

My dad told me to NEVER, EVER give $$$ to the homeless. The pastor at my church said the exact opposite. Who is right? My pastor or my dad? The pastor's explanation is that God sometimes uses the money for good things (however, sometimes the homeless "misuse" those funds).

So should I have given the guy my change? Hey, it's not my fault he's behind on his rent.
