Puerto Rico has been a colony for more than 500 years. First under Spain's rule, later over US rule. The head of state is the President of the United States, and no one who lives in the island can vote to elect him. There is a deficit of democracy in this island and the UN is aware, so how can its citizens join the group of nations and enjoy the joys of freedom? I have my own views, let me know yours so we can make it happen.

I would have. Call me a Single Issue Voter, but abortion kills 4,000 people a day, making it WAY more important than any of the other issues on the table. Of course, John Kerry was such a moron, I might have voted 3rd party.

I just answered a question by a Brit wanting to know if America had even remembered the July 7th 2005 bombings in London that killed so many people. England is bitter against Americans; the whole world hates Americans. Folks, the American people are not the ones with the authority to wage war---only our government's leaders can do that. All of us are just hardworking people who cast our votes, spin the wheel, and hope they keep the promises they made before they were elected. The governments are at war with each other. We, the people---in all countries---are just having to stand by and take all the fallout. What about a truce for the people?

I don't think illegal immigrants will get the right to vote for several years, if they get it at all, but I started wondering, if they were to get the right to vote, would lean republican or democrat? Many Mexican immigrants came to America to earn higher wages - very capitalistic and Republican. Many are Catholic and pro-life, and support the church - again, more conservative than liberal. But would they see Republican resistance to amnesty as racist and be inclined to vote Democrat on that one issue?

I am genuinely curious to hear what people think about this. On paper it's easy to peg illegals as liberals, but looking at their motives and religion, they may be closet conservatives.

What do you think of fellow Conservative John Dean's (from Watergate fame) new upcoming book called; "WORSE THAN WATERGATE; THE SECRET PRESIDENCY OF GEORGE W. BUSH", the title obviously speaks for itself, it appears according to John Dean that the current Neoconservative leadership has morphed into something secretive and prone to decpetion, How can you justify this one Cons?

How come governments take on a life of their own after being elected? Why do the people that chose one party over another for the policies that were promised have no part in decisions and policies?

Why are the people not consulted when important matters arise, like declaring war on a nation or when one part of a country suffers drought while another part has to release water downriver?

We elect parties who place experts in positions where their decisions affect our lives in ways we cannot control or check.
When will democracies evolve back into a system that takes the people's opinion into account?

With the influence of religion in American and world politics as strong as it has ever been, the separation of church and state seems like only a dream. I believe the only true path to world peace and true freedom of religion is for all governments to be completely secular.

The official story is a lie. A 757 DID NOT hit the Pentagon, explosives had been previously positioned at strategic structural points inside the twin towers and WTC Building 7 and sychronized for a controlled demolition. Those buildings would have dropped if a paper airplane hit them. I am just curious what percentage of the people are aware of the truth, and of the people who ACTUALLY planned and executed this crime against humanity. Further, does anyone have a workable idea on how to get this knowledge into mainstream awareness (70% or more of the people aware of the truth)? Mainstream media refuse to acknowledge the truth, and only push the cover stories that are whipped up by the guilty. How do we get this subject to roar through our universities, churches, civic organizations, and local communities?

Even if the Constitution says if you don't like the current goverment, destroy it and rebuild. Do you think the Government would respond with military force and what the world's oppion would be?

Prisons seems to make it difficult to return to being a citizen.

Prisons seem to allow "socializing" which has spilled over into the community and is corrupting all of our youth today. Profanity, Prostitution, Molestation, Rape and Pornography all are fed by criminal needs.

Can't we determine how much land a prisoner needs to grow food and build a shelter and leave him there alone until he demonstrates he can read, write and perform arithmetic at GED levels? No TV, computers just books and (psychologically beneficial) screened movies. No contact except video with any human beings. Eliminate sentencing and use milestones based on the crime.

Separate prisons for inmates which are NOT getting out and facilities in the deep ocean or out in space on monitored but otherwise uninhabited moons or asteroids.

We should eliminate any system which makes it impossible to recover an inmate.

I am sick of the blame game, party rhetoric, and fingerpointing from both the left and the right. It's time to end the bickering and the polarization of citizens by party affiliation. We need to kick the DNC and the GOP to the proverbial curb and show them they do not dictate our choises for candidates. America would much rather have centrist representation, IMHO, and the time should be sooner, rather than later.

remember the 7/7 bombings today? Do you actually know what they were? Today, the UK has hade a day of mourning and a day of reflection about the war on terror. I've seen evry little gung-ho patriotism and no flag waving, just sadness and reflection. However, my question is, did any of you Americans join us in remembrance? Or is it just another case of American double-standards, with our tragedies being lost to American issues?

Why don't we recognize serious perps as "dangers to themselves and others" and send them off for eval and meds like we do suicides? There are meds and tx available for anger management and psychotic rage. Instead, we blame the victims, trying to get them to be mind readers, and punish them, especially the children, by making them live in shelters and safe houses as fugitives while the perps get out immediately and are free to offend again with no tx, no meds, no psychiatric record, free to buy guns in many cases and much more angry than before. No wonder more victims don't turn the abusers in. Surely, we can pass a law that says it's insane to abuse those who love you, especially your children? The attitude seems to be that its reasonable to lose your temper with your family members and fly into a psychotic rage that does put "others" at risk. But often the victims aren't considered people who count. Why is this? Why in this day and age do we still blame the victims?
