I don't think illegal immigrants will get the right to vote for several years, if they get it at all, but I started wondering, if they were to get the right to vote, would lean republican or democrat? Many Mexican immigrants came to America to earn higher wages - very capitalistic and Republican. Many are Catholic and pro-life, and support the church - again, more conservative than liberal. But would they see Republican resistance to amnesty as racist and be inclined to vote Democrat on that one issue?

I am genuinely curious to hear what people think about this. On paper it's easy to peg illegals as liberals, but looking at their motives and religion, they may be closet conservatives.

Definitely a third party. The immigrant population is large enough and potentially influentual. Immigrants that come to this country have a range of experiences Republicans and Democrats don't have. While both appeal to values immigrants carry, by no means do they represent the immigrant experience enough to meet their needs.

The only reason the Democrats want "amnesty" for illegals is because they will vote Democrat at the next election. The Hispanics will never vote for Republicans because they want less government. That means less social services such as free healthcare and free education. Obongo wants to put 12 million illegals before American citizens who cannot find jobs. That creature should be impeached!

I think it becomes obvious to people once they are here a bit, that the democrats pander to the minorities, whether it be real empathy or just begging for votes. Eventually I believe immigrants will vote democrat, unless they have someone like Ahnold who tries to play both sides of the fence. He sure was giving Bush a hard time about the border at California.

Both republicans and democrats are Americans. However, the illegals prefer to remain Mexicans even post amnesty. To begin with, let them speak English and mix with the mainstream culture. Then, whatever they are would be healthy for the country.

They would be democrats until they hit the lottery or struck it rich. Then they would compromise their morality and choose greed. So in turn they would turn Republican. They would continue to go to church and judge others all the while forgetting were they came from. It's the American way.

Republicans get them cheaper paying jobs. and the democrats dangle a carrot under there nose. and the rest of the country pays for it. vote out all incumbent and lazy and corrupt and life long politicians out of office . and always promote legal immigration .and always support democracy in corrupt Mexico.
