That would be an interesting ticket... two true leaders, with vision and courage to stand up to their parties and do what they believe is best for America.
Voters have become very polarized over the last 10-15 years. People vote straight Republican or Democrat and don't look at the leaders... only the parties and a handful of hot-button issues. I'm guilty of it myself. But the thought of a strong leader, who would do what's best for the country - both domestically and internationally - and have the courage to stand up to the establishment and special interests, instead of play into their hands, would make me think twice about this ticket. I think Lieberman and McCain would be the only two people who this could work with (although Rudy Guliani / Wesley Clark could also fit). The biggest challenge would be convincing Americans to vote for people, not issues, and that this ticket has a chance of winning.
This ticket would bring social liberalism, fiscal conservatism, a strong military, and serious international respect - and I think a lot of people could live with that combination.

With Lieberman at the top, can you say LOSER? According to news reports, he's having more than enough trouble getting the nomination for the Senate in his home state and if he can't do that how could you expect him to win nationally? This ticket would get fewer votes than Ross Perot got the second time he ran!

IMHO McCain is a bit of a hothead, but I agree with the concept of an independent president. We need to mature beyond the silly mudslinging of bipartisan politics and get on with fixing real problems like the economy and the environment.

I agree we need a more moderate candidate. The problem I see is that McCain has gone way over to the right in trying to court the Evangelicals, and in doing so has lost support of the more moderates who were his strongest supporters.
Lieberman, likewise has shifted his views to the right enough that he also has lost the support of moderate Dems.
I'm holding out for Barack Obama. I know he won't run in '08, but I can see him taking the presidency in '12.

If you have McCain at the top of the ticket, that would be interesting to me.
If you're sick of both parties as I was, why not do what I did a few years ago? I am now a registered Libertarian. C'mon, we need more members so we can have a legitimate shot.

Honestly I would cast a vote for Carrot Top before I EVER voted for either one of those fools! Neither one of them have a brain in their heads--so if they're going to be stupid, at least they could be funny. Yeah, Carrot Top would do it for me, if left with those two choices!
