I have a lot of very small bamboo stalks and I put them in my turtle cage, will it hurt the turtle to eat them?

Is it possible for red-eared sliders to get too much light? By that I mean, they seem to be VERY energetic... CONSTANTLY swimming around the tank at a fast pace. I hardly see them rest.

Would it be good to turn their light off at night? There's a dark spot in the tank, and that's where their little cave is. So it's not like the ENTIRE tank is lit up. I guess I just feel bad that they won't be able to see a thing at night with the light off. And I see them basking at night.

Oh, they're only babies by the way... if that changes anything.

I've heard you can feed them food out of the refrigerator but I'm hesitant to feed them any kind of human food just in case. Is it alright to feed them certain human foods and if so, what kinds are good? All help is appreciated

Hi.
Um its carmella again..and as of right now my iguana is in a glass tank with a screen top..but i was wondering if it can move into a wired (non sharp eged) cage.?
thanks.
and its not like chicken wire..it thicker and if the iguana decided to climb on it it wouldnt cut its toes..I was just wondering if this would be okay..and also heat wouldnt be an issue.
thanks again.
much love
Carmella

It is a 10 gal- aquarium, filled 1/3 with water and 1 inch of pebbles. It has a small filter and a small basking ledge ( that the turtle is too big for). HE is still able to poke his head above water. But is very noisy. He crawls under water, under the floating basking ledge and gets "stuck", he always can free himself, but thrashes violently. He even moves the filter around.

By the way. This isn't my turtle. It belongs to a classroom at my work and I am taking care of it for a colleague . I bought the tank, rocks, filter and everything. I took it home in a 1 gal. critter keeper. Please be nice. Don't say I am being cruel to turtles or have bad grammar.

Ok, so last year around this time i got a little baby red eared slider. He lived in a 10 gallon tank for a while, then from eating fish, pellets, and swimming around a lot, he grew pretty big.
I moved him to a 40 gallon aquarium quite a while ago.

Ok so, one day about a month ago i come him and go in there to watch him and feed him, he is gone.
I look on the floor and there is a spot where it looks like he landed.

I suspect my cats got him out.

His tank was high up so i figured he was dead wherever the cats drug him off.

I spend days searching my entire house except for my room because i thought i had my door closed that day.

So today i went in there to clean out my closet and i almost had a heart attack because my turtle is in there.

I figured he was dead, so i got a cloth and picked him up.
He is alive.
He used to be meaty and healthy. He is SOOO skinny now. I put him back in the tank but he has been out of water for like a month and he is floating near the top. HELP!!!???

I've just had my 6 week old beardy today. My vivarium is 36" width 18" high 15" diameter.
The vivarium came with everything required but my temp doesn't seem right. It is only 75 degrees at its hottest in the middle of the vivarium. The bayonet bulb is 60 watt and so is the UVB light.
How can I raise the temp? Do I need to get a higher bulb wattage? Will this change the basking area as well?

I have a turtle but I don't know what species it is. I want to know how to take care of it without buying stuff. I don't have enough money. I'm just a little kid with no job and whose mom won't allow to have her pet turtle at home.
