I want to get another gecko so my leo wont get lonely. But i have heard that 2 male leos will fight if they are put in the same cage. So I thinking about if it would be alright if I got a different type of gecko that was a male. Would they fight or would they be alright together?

my son and i have a 4ft Red Rat Snake (that is actually grey) that is about 14 months old. we have been feeding one small mouse once a week. it seems as though he has been getting more active in his terrarium, showing signs of hunger earlier in the week before feeding day (Sundays). should we up it to 2 small mice every week? or should we up it to 2 small mice every 2 weeks? << if we do the latter, that would just equal the same amount we are already doing and we would just be hungrier sooner as the second Sunday approaches. need serious answers please!

I have a young California Kingsnake that I purchased on March 1st. He/She is quite young, about 14 inches long, seems well adjusted to its new home and is feeding twice a week. Has already shed once, never regurgitated food, and seems to be growing fast.

I want to ensure that the snake grows up to be well adjusted and 'tame.'

Most of the books talk about handling 'frequently' which is a pretty meaningless phrase. So far I've been handling for a few minutes every day (except within 24 of eating or on the day of feeding).

So my question to snake experts out there, is how often should I handle the snake to get her as 'tame' as possible? How long does it typically take, and what other tips do you have about handling?

At this time the snake usually thrashes a little when it comes out, but settles down in less than a minute. But it is still a little jumpy often pulling its head back. It does not fake strike, strike, bite, defecate or musk.

Thanks in advanced for expert opinions.

I got her from a friend that was keeping her in a bad conditon for 3 years. He put her in a 10 gallon tank with only 2-3 inches of water! And he didn't even give her a basking spot! So I took her from him and gave her a 30 gallon tank with a basking light, a ramp, and 6-7 inches of water. The problem is that she wont swim or get on her ramp to bask. Is it becuz she dosen't know how to swim? She is a 5 inch RES. Please help!
