GOOD FOR YOU! 30 gallons is definately a start! It is said 1 inch per turtle to 10 gallons. It depends how long u had her. It will take some adjusting to. She will learn to enjoy the basking, it will come. How much wate ryou have. If you could sepate 1/2 water & 1/2 ground--that would be great! RES's LOVE to swim & to bury in mulch, leaves, dirt. Maybe fill 1/2 with large rocks, a LARGE basking area. & where do you live? summers especially GREAT to be outside--even a kiddie pool! BUT they can escape, so always watch & fill 1/2 water, 1/2 rocks, maybe some mulch or dirt. Even use kiddie pool as a fenced in area, have something smaller in it with waterr, & the rest dirt, mulch, .... I have 2 painted turtles, similiar to RES's --all needs same. Summer they live outside in a pond I built them, with a FENCE. Winter months i bring into another pond, just sitting in garage. BUt feed her a variety---turtle food from pet store is ok, but also they love rosie minnows, dark leafy veggies, romaine lettuce you eat even, also in pet stores, water lettuce, floats in water & continues to grow. She'll even like cooked meat, trukey, chicken, beef--BUT ALWAYS cook it! GOOD LUCK>

What are the water and basking sites temps? They should be about 65-70F and about 90F. Cold water is a big problem with turtles acting oddly.
There is still too little water. A 5" turtle should have about 50 gallons of water to play in. At least fill the tank almost full to start with.
When they are put in a new home, turtles always act funny for about a week. Leave it alone to get used to things, and only feed it about 1/2 the normal amount for a week.

He grow to be in all probability raised interior the incorrect ecosystem on the puppy shop. Take your turtle to the vet immediatly. The tank you preserve him in is likewise undersized. a stable initiating abode for a small or toddler crimson Eared Slider is an aquarium. purchase a minimum of a 20-gallon aquarium. additionally required are a clear out, a heater, a pump and airstone, a sandy or gravel substrate, stay or plastic aquatic flowers, chlorine remover and different water conditioners, a small UVB bulb, a basking spot for the extra youthful turtle, and a underwater thermometer. None of those factors could be disregarded of the right toddler turtle enclosure. next time do your reseach. do no longer have faith the puppy shop as they can supply out fake inforamtion. If he dies I recommend you pass to a extra appropriate puppy shop and purchase yet another healthful toddler turtle that's captive bred and raised interior the right habitat. The turtle you acquire would have been ill or wild caught, and could no longer do nicely in captivity. regrettably, turtles are between the pets who get the main abuse.

Could be she's just getting accustomed to her new surroundings. And it could be that she just doesn't know what she can do now, since she's been in the bad condition for so long. Even creatures adapt to their environments, so it may take her a while to figure things out. If she's eating and otherwise appears healthy, I would just give her a little time. If the problem continues, consult with a vet, or even someone that sells fish and other aquatic animals. They might come up with a solution. Good luck to you and the little turtle! I hope she gets a little more active and does her thing. So many folks seem to neglect their pets. Thank you for caring about her.
