i have just bought a hermanns tortoise does any one know of a good book that will help me look after him as i am a beginner & when i got him i was sold a heat matt that had to go on the back of a glass front sliding door tank & i have been told not to use heat mats so now an a bit confused

I'm thinking about getting a postal scale in order to weight my new ball python so I can keep thorough records, but I want to make sure that I don't get a scale that won't be able to weight her as she ages. How much does an average adult ball python weigh?

Hi.

My husband keeps going on about a terrapin he saw in our local pet store. He really wants one. I'd rather not have one personally. I reckon they'd be terrible pets and I hear they smell bad. Is this true? I know next to nothing about them.

I have several large yucca plants and ferns in my living room. I got an anole from someone and just let it live in my living room plants just for kicks. Surprisingly he has stayed in the plants and I feed him small spiders and crickets, misting him down on occasion. Would it be ok to add several more to my plants or would they fight?

My turtle is normally a very good eater....lazy about eating but, good. lol. But, lately he isnt eating...AT ALL! He seems healthy, his shell is good and his eyes are nice and bright so, I really dont know whats wrong....any ideas?

When is the male ok to go back in with the females after they have a litter? I found out my male was eating the babies, and have him separated right now. The babies are starting to get fuzzy but are still at the pinky stage. 7-8 of them out of 1 or both females.
At what point will he most likely not eat them anymore?
Do most male mice eat the babies? If need be, I can feed him out to my snake and get another male if the odds are good the next one won't be.

Hey guys, im not big with knowlage on snakes, ive just started out about a week ago, im getting on ok though i think, its just shed its skin night befor last and i tryed to put a defrosted mouse in there the morning after it shed, should it eat it? it has not eaten in 2 weeks because of shedding, i was wondering if there could be a problem, or how long i should leave it after shedding to feed it, also is feeding it live mouse in england illigal?
