I have never seen anything like it. It looks like a baby, about 2.5 inches long. Does anyone know what kind of lizard this is? I'm afraid there is a big one near by. I live in west texas, but it's the first time I've seen an orange lizard. Usually I see green, or brown lizards, but never orange. Are these poisonous? I'm scared. I don't like creatures I know nothing about.

i have all the equipment, lights, cage, heat, etc. but no pet. I want a pet that costs less than 40$ (excluding equip.) not jumpy/skittish, easy to take care of, not really small, and tolerates handling. What should i get? please include websites and care info.

I have a leopard gecko and it wont let me pick him up at all. I have had him a few months and he will eat crickets out of my hands but if i try to pick him up he will snap and bite my fingers. Clearlly it doesnt hurt but its super annoying and i have almost given up entirely. What should i do? How can i make him comfortable with me handeling him? I had another gecko years before this one and he was a great pet to handle. I dont understand!

they are driving me crazy i have a couple of questions about them

1. Can i spray them and fill their tank with tap water because i have been doing that for a long time and i wanna know if thats wrong.

2. these toads have not been eating the red worms that i have been giving them and i dont feed them crickets because crickets creep me out and hop out air holes in the tank

3. I have a green/black one and a darkbrown or black/black one. Dark one doesnt even try to eat when i try to feed them, but when the green one does, its never gets the worm in its mouth cuz it ends up letting the worm get away in the water. the worms go directly to the water when it gets in the tank for some reason.

4. the green one hasnt been eating, but it got fat off something what is it??

5. since the toads dont eat, i just put fire bellied toad dust in the water...is that harmful?

6. they dont make the noises they used to either

My daughter has a fairly new green snake. We've never seen it eat before but today it appears to be moving strangely and choking. My hope is that it chased down a big cricket in the tank. He was active and climbing all morning, then we saw him with his head hanging out of the vines, laying on the sand floor, sideways with his mouth gaping. I can't see anything in his mouth and don't want to disturb him, but we are worried that something might be wrong. Can anyone please tell me if it's normal for a snake to have a gaping mouth and jerky, backward movements when trying to swallow prey?

Thanks in advance!

Can They Make Good Pets Or Does Anyone Have One?

2007-01-04 05:46:40 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous

I have a box turtle and he is awesome. I feed him mostly mealworms, and occasionally crickets. Sometimes his stools contain the exoskeletons of the worms he eats, even though I try to feed him freshly molted worms. I am worried this is bad for his digestive system. Would crickets be better? I have also fed him cooked, diced chicken, but he doesn't do as well with it.

Any suggestions or experiences of other box turtle owners?

I have a combo hood that finally died. I've had it for awhile and since then alot of new things have come out and I want to and need to replace the combo unit. My old combo unit held a UV tube light and had 2 places for light bulbs for heat.

Can all you reptile lovers tell me about the coil UV light that is used with a dome light? Is it good? Do you recommend it or should I go back to a combo unit? The only thing about the combo unit is that the whole thing needs to be replaced if one element dies : (

Advise about not so expensive UV and heat lighting for 50 gallon tanks please?

PS: I obviously would also have another dome light to emit heat.
