Rattle Snake? ugh don't think so...
I think the rattles would have been obvious.
Although it's hard to say with out seeing this snake.
I am compelled to say a diamond back water snake.
And although they are not poisonous they are aggressive
and do not make good pets.
If ya don't know what it is don't mess with it.
I would study up on snakes, particularly the ones in your region.

Sounds like a small grey diamond back female. The snakes from west Texas look like that. I used to live in Odessa, out in oil field country. Some female grey rattlers do not get rattles until they get much bigger 5ft or so.
Yes, it's VERY poisonous. A young snake has more venom than an older adult.

It's an albino Diamondback rattlesnake. 1 in 100 or so of them are born Albino, but they're just as venomous.

I use to live in houston and you should beware and stay away from it. My husband had to get rid of a few copper heads and rattlers in our back yard where our kids were playing. I almost hated to let the kids out! to many snakes. I had one fall out of the air vent ! Yuck!!

As Steve Irwin (who was not killed by snake as one of the previous posters seemed to imply) said; "Don't muck with it!" Unless it is in your house or directly a threat to you just leave it alone. If it is, call the animal control.

That would be a western diamondback rattlesnake....very poisonous!!!!
Unless it was in your house....leave it alone....and please don't try to kill it.
Get help if you need the snake removed....just call your local Police or Fire Department.
