I have never seen anything like it. It looks like a baby, about 2.5 inches long. Does anyone know what kind of lizard this is? I'm afraid there is a big one near by. I live in west texas, but it's the first time I've seen an orange lizard. Usually I see green, or brown lizards, but never orange. Are these poisonous? I'm scared. I don't like creatures I know nothing about.

They aren't poisonous there are only 2 types of poisonous lizards and they look nothing like what you describe, so you don't have to worry about that atleast.

I couldn't identify it by your description sorry but here are hopefully usefull websites. my only guess would be the fourth one down on the second site, which is a gecko completely harmless.

It may not be native to Texas could have been a pet that has been released that is not from there but can adapt to the climate....where I live there are nile monitors and an island near us has a large population of black iguanas....it could be that this lizard was an albino and may also be difficult to tell by your description...there are literally thousands of possibilities to what you may have seen especially if it is a lizard that changes color and you will have a range with that too....if you have the time do a web search you may be able to find what it actually is...most aren't poisonous so I wouldn't worry about it

The fact that it's skin is kinda transparent says gecko to me, did you find this lizard at night?
Otherwise, your description could describe alot of lizards, none of which are poisonous, btw. Check this link out:

It sounds like a gecko to me to. I found one before in a pet store with a orange body and black paws and black eyes. They are not dangerous. If the lizzard did bite you I would not worry about it.

First reccommendation, get a picture of it (if possible), and post it (if that's possible) I just signed up tonight. That would be slightly easier for us Reptiles gurus to locate the correct one for you...Good Luck...

Personally, just from description, it sounds like a Leopard Gecko...were there any spots?? Or, were there any distinguishing characteristics??

Again, good luck...If you would like to contact me, and I will do what I can to locate your answer, just e-mail at either nsaneknutkase@yahoo.com (Yahoo!) or smckinst@capital.edu (School).

Have a great evening/morning...!
