I have observed turtles during trips to the pet store and they are always sleeping on top of one another, just wondering if anyone knows why they do that? Thanks for the info. Have a good one!

They are taking advantage of a good basking site with good sunlight. warmth, or UV. In most of the world, there are not a lot of good basking sites, so they share.

There may be a little socializing going on- given a choice of apparently equal logs, they do seem to pile up on one. Of course, that might be the old 'your log looks better than mine' bit, or even 'I'm too lazy to look for a sit so I'll just share yours'.

I don't know, I guess they like to be snuggly. I think they might have instincts to sleep near rocks in the wild so they sleep near each other. My 4 red-eared sliders always snuggle every night!
