Right, I have a One year old hermanns.
I have her in a glass tank, with a carpet as substrate, a background, a 'cave' and her food and water.
She has a heat mat underneath one side of the tank and a reptile strip light.
I have been on many websites with care sheets on and this is usually all you need.
Make sure you keep him nice and warm!
Good luck :]

You don't really need a book, there are a lot of very useful websites out there that will tell you everything you need to know and very specifically about your tortoise and not all turtles and tortoises.

Eatern Hermanns Care Sheet

Western Hermanns Care Sheet

Good luck with your new tortoise!

you would be better to go and buy a book.from a good pet store.if you try to buy one on web could wait up to 3weeks for it you need help now.(heat mat no good)you need heat bulb .plus a tube at back of Viv no more then 12 inches above tortoise.its gives of Vitim d3 when you got Viv did it have light socket in roof of Viv that's where heat bulb go.s you will also need heat control or you will cook tortoise. i don.t mean to confuse you but when you got book you will understand better.good luck hope this helps you.
