With most turtles it is easy. Just look at the nails. Males will have longer nails than the female. The male will most always have longer nails for mating reasons.

In most species:
Males have longer thinner tails and in-curved bellies
Females have short, wide tails and flat or out-curved bellies.

Males are also usually smaller and more colorful, but that only helps if you know the age of both turtles.

In some pond turtles, males have longer front claws. In some box turtles, males have red or orange eyes. In some tortoises, the males have 'battering rams' on their belly shell.

A female turtle has a small tail and VERY short nails, the male turtle is opposite. You can just go on google or something if you need to see the diffrence....but its normally very easy to tell by the nails....

Without knowing the species that you have I could not hazard a guess. Each species is different. The links below have information on identifying turtles and sexing, hopefully you can find your turtles there. An exotic vet in your area would be able to tell you what sex they are, as well as the species and how to properly care for them.

Males have a stomach that is more pulled in and females have a flat to pot bellied looking stomach due to the need of holding eggs inside of the shell.

Its easiest to just take it to the vet and have the vet tell you. :)
