I am undecided on which breed of python to get. i have been looking after/rescuing reptiles for a number of years so i am not naive about looking after exotic pets, but this will be my first venture into snakes. i have looked at and heard of most of the pros and cons of each species but i am still undecided.

I have for several years wanted and studied all I could about Sulcatas. Living in Florida I had the perfect environment for a tortise and had plans on getting one soon now that I feel I know all I need to give him a great life but now, My husbnd has been offered a job in NY. I have never seen snow and have no clue what to expect. Can anyone tell me will be possible to set up a full finished basment and be able to keep it warm enough so my tortise will be able to thrive.? What kind of heating should I use for him. Any set up ideas would be apreciated as well. Again as i have said i have spent years getting ready for my tortise and know just about all there is to know about raising them i just have no clue about raising them in NY. I would be heart broen if I could never have my guy.

I don't know if the gecko is a male or a female. How do you tell? It's been fed these already dead mealworms (that you can buy in the store that comes in a plastic canister). also it's been given this vitamin type pellet. The geckos usually get fed twice a week (yesterday was one of those days).

My brother is away at his Navy A school and left us the care of his two geckos. We separated them today due to one's obsessive eating habits, but I still don't know what to do. When I look at the skinny gecko all I want to do is cry. It's so skinny. What can I do besides take it to the vet? Any suggestions on feeding and special caring for it?

I have a burmese python and a ball python and was wondering if you can put them together without one eating or killing the other. I dont think I would ever do it anways but it would be nice to know. I know that neither are snake eaters as a species but maybe because of the size difference (burmese is about 9ft and 25 lbs and ball is about 40 inches and maybe 1lb) there could be a problem. Thanks

We have an amazon tree boa and are thinking of adding another snake to the vivarium. We're looking at adding a red tail boa, but nobody around here seems to have a clue. I'm in Alaska, so that could definately play a part in that. I'm looking at a few sites, but all the sites just talk about atb's. I need to know what else can peacefully co-exist with him.

My boyfriend found a snake on the side of the road... I know a little bit about snakes but not enough to tell the difference in the breeds. It has a dark brown base with lighter brown markings but it does not have the distinctive white spots that a reticulated python has. Nor does it resemble a boa...can anyone tell me how to distinguish the breeds by their markings?
