Take it to a reptile vet, because they are the only ones really qualified to write a prescription for a turtle, and if you give it the wrong thing, it could die. Of course, if it has an infection, it could die anyway, but they have a better chance of survival with proper veterinary treatment. :) Good luck!

1. It would be good to know the symptoms. Some infections will clear up nicely once you remove the cause of the infection- often dirty water- and give it a chance to rest in a 'hospital' set-up (basically a little warmer and less stressful).
2. Bacteria come in two major types- positive gram and negative gram. You HAVE to give the right stuff for the right type or it is useless.
3. If you have any real experience with turtle medicine you would have probably learned that many fish meds you can get at a large pet shop will work- but see point #2.
4. Depending on the situation, you might be able to add the anti-biotic to the water (least effective), apply it as an ointment, give it as a pill (tough to do), or sprinkle it on food (useless for water turtles). Most big infections require an injection for maximum effectiveness.

I worked at a zoo for over a year. We used Amoxicillian for nearly everything. It kills a wider range of bacteria then Penecillian but is not as strong. You may have to go to a feed store that sells horse / large animal stuff to find it. Going to the vet is also a good idea.
