Turtles can be a wonderful pet. Rich now I have 2 baby water turtles rescued from a sand pit after a flood. I love to watch them swim around and comunicate with one another. when they sun themselves they will cock there heads and blink there eyes and watch every move that you make. They ask for food when they are hungry And it is hillarious to watch them bully each other to see who gets the highest point on there sunning bank. Turtles do take a bit of specilized care though. They have to be in an appropriate environment and be fed the corect foods to thrive. Know about your turtle before you get them. And they will make you happy for many many years

To do it RIGHT, a turtle will absorb a lot of time and money on your part to provide it a good home.
On the other hand, turtles spend much of their time sunning and sleeping, so are not the most visually intersting pets.

Well, a turtle is less absorbant than a sponge, but more absorbant than a rock.
