I have a burmese python and a ball python and was wondering if you can put them together without one eating or killing the other. I dont think I would ever do it anways but it would be nice to know. I know that neither are snake eaters as a species but maybe because of the size difference (burmese is about 9ft and 25 lbs and ball is about 40 inches and maybe 1lb) there could be a problem. Thanks

It is never a good idea to house 2 snakes together. Even if they are not usually snake eaters. They could always get hungry enough.Especially with the size difference you are talking about.

Here is a link for you to check out of a non snake eating snake that was housed with another... http://www.bobclark.com/bcforums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=20213&FORUM_ID=11&CAT_ID=1&Topic_Title=Can+I+house+my+Boa+and+my+Ball+Python+together%3F&Forum_Title=Picture+Forum
Also, it is much cheaper and easier to treat one snake rather than 2 for illness or parasites if they are separated

Due to the great difference in size, putting a ball python and a burmese python together is a bad idea. You can put 2 species together if they are more similar in size. If the smaller of the 2 weighed 10 lbs, it would likely be OK. I have a macklotts python that weighs about 15 lbs in with a boa constrictor that weighs 25 or 30 lbs. I do this to save on my electric bill. I do separate them for feeding.

When getting a new snake, be sure to house it separately for a couple of months, before putting it in with one of your other snakes. After those 2 months, make sure that the new snake is healthy. This will prevent introducing any possible diseases to your other snakes.

If you are trying to save on electricity, you might try placing the cage containing the ball python on top of the cage containing the burmese python. Heat goes up, so check that the ball python is not too warm, and adjust the heat accordingly. 80 to 90 degrees F is best for most tropical snake species.
