I just got a 5 week old hampster Friday and since yesterday he has been trying to bite me when I hold him. I don't hold too tight, I let him walk on my hands and I didn't smell like I had any food. I love my hampster and if I punish him he might just want to bite me more. If you can help me with this I'd really apreciate it. Thanks. ps. If you got any other hampster tips that would be great!

I don't have too much experience in caring for pets, since I've only taken care of fish and my friend's guinea pigs for 2 weeks.
-not a dog since I don't have the sapce to let it run around in the
-not a cat since they shed
-not a tarantula since they arn't really the type of pet that you can pet and console your feelings with.
-not a reptile since I'm squirmish about what they eat. xpet for a iguana but they get to be quite big and smaller ones don't have that comfortimg feeling
-rodent. not a rabbit since they are harder to take care of than other rodents. so do I get a guinea pig, mouse or hamster? I'd prefer to get a guinea pig, but are the other rodents easier to take care of?

I have an arab gelding whom I love dearly but he can be full of nonsense sometimes.
I have had conflicting advice on my problem with him. When approaching him, he will lay down his ears and roll his eyes. he wont bite me but bites anyone else that approaches him.
Do you look him in the eyes when approaching or keep your eyes downcast? he has a strong personality but is a pussycat when tacked up. I have found that the only way I don't get bitten is by not looking him in the eye. Is this correct or am i just lucky?

I've kept hamster's for many years, and I'm now thinking a mouse might be interesting for a change. How do they compare to hamster's, regarding temperment and socialabiltiy? Is one ok on it's own( like hamster's) or do they need to be kept in pairs?

My dog has arthritis. His hind legs go out from underneath him more and more each day. He snaps when someone other than a family member pets him as he has many sore spots and some unoperable tumors. We have many teenage kids around our house, so this is a major concern. He's 16 years old and we adore him. In spite of all his ailments, he'll rip across the yard after a squirrel.

My ferret came from the pet store eating Marshall ferret food. I switched to Sunshine Ferret food (still 36% crude protein), and now she has diarrhea. I'm confused, since she is out of her cage 3 times a day, she frequently nibbles at my dogs Beneful dog food and this never bothered her. Do I switch back or will she eventually get used to this new brand?
