Normal body temperature is 98 - 101 F (36.6 - 38.3 Celsius). A temperature higher than that, may indicate an infection. A healthy horse's temperature can vary by 3 degrees depending on environmental factors. Horses tend to have higher temperatures in warm weather and during/after exercise, stress or excitement. A high fever doesn't always indicate a severe condition, but it is a good idea to take your horse's temperature often and if you his temperature is over 102 F (38.8 Celsius), you should call your veterinarian.

Anything over 101.5 f warrants a call to the veterinarian. My horse runs a lower body temperature in the morning (as low as 99.2 some days) and around 100.2 in the evening.

Take your horse's temperature regularly so you'll know when there's a spike, or a problem. Like Rhino... which oftentimes is missed when it's most easily treated, whe the first symptom arises (spiked temperature).

Horse body temperature can vary depending on it's breed, physical activity and environmental temperature and pressure. In colder months inside body pressure lowers which can slow down the lymphatic system that in turn can slow down metabolism and cause body temperature to drop. In summer months the opposite. In general it is observed that healthy hoses temperature can vary between 37.2 and 38.6 however it can be a little lower or higher depending on the individual horse.

Normal temperature range for a horse: 98.5F to 101F (36.9C to 38.3C)

Normal pulse range: 28 to 45 beats (count the double 'lub dub' as one full beat) per minute.

Normal respiration range: 12 to 20 breaths per minute

These are general normal ranges. Check your horse over several days to establish normal parameters for your individual horse. Very young, older, or competition fit horses may have TPR, outside of the usual parameters, as their normal TPR...
