Just got a loan of a 7/8 year old throughbred mare that has never been raced, my own horse is off for a few weeks due to a bruised sole. She is a lovely little mare, but needs weight on her. She is not mine though and don't want to spend a fortune, I will probably keep her over the summer as a companion horse and for my sister to ride, I know she will put up weight once the grass starts growing but any cheap alternatives until then? She getting hay and cool and cooked as of yesterday, I wormed her too. Is beet pulp good for weight gain? Or Rolled oats, both are cheap here in Ireland.

Her name is ashlie and she has a very cute tail and I bake her favorite ketchup and mustard cookies every day. BTW, they have a luscious hint of garlic mixed with cinnamon in them, too. I love taking mud baths with my pig, put her snorting has gotten so irritating, that I think I need a muzzle, or something to keep her quiet.

I always apologize. I really can't tell if my dogs understand, but it makes me feel better. And a dog cookie helps too!

My son has three fancy mice. Two of them have mange-mites. We have already taken them to the vet, who advised us to treat them with SpotOn (a liquid medicine you put on the animal's back). One of the mice showed improvement, the other still has mites and I'm worried she will re-infect the others. What should I do?

We have a pair of house rabbits that are five months old. Unfortunately, one of them died yesterday so we have since bought another one to keep the other company. We have a separate cage for them both and don't let them out at the same time, but the established rabbit seems determined to hurt the new one. How do we go about making them friendly towards each other?

My dog is 11 years old and has had ongoing problems with his back legs. He has trouble getting up and when out walking sometimes the leg goes weak on him. His back dips also. I think its is arthtritis or something. Ive never been able to get it checked at the vets cos they need him upside down and laying perfectly still on a table for an X Ray. (I dont think so)! Anyway there was a remarkable improvement after giving him rymidil for months but then he started to get diarroiah and blood in his poo. He had a blood test and all was clear. I took him off the tablets and his poo became normal again for one week. I then put himback on the tab and the symtoms came back so I cannot really continue with the tabs even though they are helping his legs, as obviously he is losing nutrients though loose bowel movements and the blood cant be a good sign. Does anyone have any other recommendations of how I can ease his legs?

We picked up a cat that had been hit on the side of the road just before thanksgiving. We brought her to the vet and found out she was going to live so we had her fixed and de-clawed. She was a barn cat so we gave her flea meds and now she some how has tapeworm. We also have two dogs. Do we need to get them wormed too?

My bf's dog was just put down. before it was, it bit the mom. the vet told them the dog would be decapitated to be checked for rabies... even though the pet only went in the fanced in backyard, and was up to date on shots. is this right?!? was the vet mistaken??? (this is in illinois, if that helps, law wise...)

And now I've got a swollen, red thumb. and the curve of my hand is swollen as well.

Went to the ER room (because it bled like crazy and I got a bit dizzy from it) and they gave me doxycycline and said to take a bit of tylenol.

My question is: Has anyone ever dealt with this? About how long will it be until my thumb is back to 'normal'? It's sore, swollen and...just... =(

Note: Yes,I know. I should've been more careful with the mouse. I cornered him to try to scoop him up (he's the only male that's terrified of being handled) and he just dove on me and gnawed the unholiness out of my hand. I sincerely doubt he's 'rabid' or some such. I've had him a month on the 7th of March,he's a pet and he's kept in an animal-proof enclosure (IE: They can't get out and nothing can get in) that's 100% disease free. He also looks to be exceptionally healthy, eats and drinks normally, etc, etc.
