Don't touch the babies for two weeks or she will eat them due to the human scent don;t clean the cage or let any of the other hamsters near the babies

you dont have to disturb :S
just move the cotton stuff (that you should have bought for babys beds) andlook for a bit then put it back?
just dont touch them
or the female will reject the babys

ummif you have them in a barred cage
they can crawl through the bars...
so i would say
get the lid or top of a cardboard box
and put it under your cage
so if they DO climb out they will get stuck there and you can catch them in timealso you shouldnt play that much with them
until there eyes open

It can vary greatly. Don't disturb her, hamsters are cannibals, and if they feel threatened will eat their young. I also believe that they will eat "runty" babies to lessen litter sizes, as I have seen this on occassion as well.

wait and see. hamsters often eat their young, so the exact number of young may change.
