The main reason for putting them on my horses is I have a 2 yr old that wants to eat everybodys tail.I figured this might help some.He has balls to play with, mineral blocks, salt blocks & other stuff but the tails are just more enteristing to him.

Email me. My mom makes these things by the handful for me, and I will be glad to send you one (or several). You can also use a long tube sock. Just split the top down a bit so you have two ends to tie, braid your horses tail and tie into the braid. BUT, if your horse likes to chew, this could work against you, since you have braided the tail, (making it easier to get a hold of) and wrapped it up for him. The tail bag may be something new that he just cannnot resist. You may think about getting him a muzzle instead.

Well first you want to braid or knot the tails. An easy and effective way that is cheaper than buying a tail bag is using a large tube sock and putting the braided or knotted tail into the sock. If you slit the sock at the top or the cuff four times you can then tie the sock over the tail.

I personally don't like tail bags or socking a horse. The weight of the tail bag when dirty or soiled can cause the hair to break. I normally just knot or braid the tail loosely and leave as is.

You however may want to go ahead a save yourself a vet bill and remove that horse to a different pasture with no pasture mates. He's putting his face in a really big danger zone and if he gets kicked by your equines- especially if they are shod- it can badly damage his mouth, eyes and ears.

To make one yourself, I'd have a look in the shops at the ones available and guestimate the size you need to make, or check out this page:

For a horse who like to chew other horses tails, sometimes you can break the habit by separating the horse from the herd for a month. If this is not possible mix cayenne pepper and protroleum jelly/your favorite hair conditioner. Apply this mixture with gloves and do not get it near skin as it will cause a burning sensation. For easier application warm up the mixture and apply it to the victims tails and manes. Chewing tails can cause intestinal obstructions...

it would not count number what sort, see you later because the commonly used is there. in a tail bag, it really is immediately ahead to develop into conscious of high quality because it really is specially made up of a few type of Lycra or fabrics. search for one it really is stretchy, wide, no loose threads and at a good cost. i'd pay no more suitable than 10 money for a reliable one. I made a gaggle on my own, it became really ordinary, decrease priced and the commonly used is waaay extra appropriate than ones to purchase. purchase a reliable metre or 2 of Lycra (it really is stretchy) and it really is about 5-20 money and also you could make round 4-6 tail luggage or so. i do not study the handcrafted ones on ebay...in the journey that they are great decrease priced (and contains delivery or some thing) then per chance. sleazy sleepwear ones are not to any extent further that sturdy for out of doors use...i wager it really is why it really is observed as 'sleazy sleepwear.' i imagine they're overpriced.

Please be careful using tailbags, in particular the kind that tie on. If you tie it around the actual tailbone, it will cut off the circulation and that part of the tail will die and come off. That REALLY messes up a horse's tail. Get the kind, or make the kind, that you braid into the hair to hold it on.
