I personally love to sleep with my dog. However, it just depends what you want your dog to be like when they are older. There are alot of training books out there that says you should never ever let your dog up on your furniture, especially the bed. The books says that the bed is the tallest, most special place in the house and that it is reserved only for the person (or people) in charge. They say that the dog should never feel as if he is on the same level, authority-wise, as the people in the home. I disagree, however. I don't like the idea of the dogs being subordinate or anything. But if you want a dog who will obey your EVERY command and respect you tremendously, then you should not let your dog sleep in the same bed. If you want to cuddle you need to do that on the floor. Not the couch. But if you want a friend and companion then I think it's fine.

Believe it or not but a dog's mouth is cleaner tahn a human's. Dogs are pack animals by nature and although they can be trained to remain off the furniture they only want to be PART of their Pack and be accepted by you...The Leader of the Pack. So allowing your dog to sleep with you is fine -not unhealthy in the slightest. It may prove to be smelly at times but nothing a little febreeze on the fabric (allowing to dry first before you rest in bed) and frequent sheet changing can't fix. I often wipe off my dog's paws with baby wipes (mild type) or puppy wipes -to limit the dirt and outside germ collection from there paws.
Enjoy your dog to the fullest. Be there friend & companion leader.
they only want to please.

If the dog spends alot of time outside then i would probably say no because he may be dirty and have fleas but if its an inside dog i see no problem with it. also if hes a small dog. I wouldnt want a St Bernard in my bed.

No, otherwise people wouldn't have dogs. If you don't cuddle your dog that can have major affects on the animal, I would suggest you put a blanket down for your dog so you don't have to wash your sheets everyday from the odor.

Not if you don't mind that they have rolled in some other dog's sh*t, or licked some other dogs ar*se.

Nor if you don't mind sharing your bed with anything else the dog may have living on his coat.

PS -Think it would be unhealthy for the dog if you were to wash and deflea every day.

Lots of people sleep with their dogs. I don't happen to be one of them, I couldn't get any sleep with my gang on the bed.

It's a personal preference. Of course, I'm not referring to anyone with allergies or asthma, who should never have a dog in bed.

I don't see why it would be unhealthy as long as the dog does not have fleas or something.
