My daughter just got a hamster from her grandma . I was wondering what I could use for tubing that it could play in sense I don't have the money right now to get to the pet store. He has a cage and everything just nothing to play with other than the wheel

Get him a toilet roll, or a bounty roll. They like those things. He can chew on it so that shaves down his teeth. It won't hurt him if he eats it. If you do go to a pet store for special tubing, ask the salesperson, he'll know the right kind. My hamster and bunny like toilet paper rolls. My hamster likes the big bounty ones cause he can crawl into it!! :)

Get a length of the 1/4" thick mailing tube. It's super sturdy because it's so thick, so it will slow how fast he chews through it. A word of caution, though. You don't want to put too much in the cage that he can climb up. Hamsters are brilliant escape artists, and will use whatever is in their cage to push open doors or squeeze through even the tiniest openings. I had a hamster that apparently learned to scale the glass in his fish tank pen. He pushed the lid off and was gone.

Toilet paper and paper towel tubes work fine. For an even sturdier tube, try part of a wrapping paper tube. The hamster will chew them up, but don’t worry, no harm will come from that.

Our hamsters spend most of their time on the wheels anyways. But one of their other favorite things was actually a water bottle I just cut the ends off of, they run through it anytime they are near it. They don't chew on it either, I guess they don't like plastic?

mine never liked the tubing anyway...she never got in it. Had a wheel and then a ball that you could put her in and she could run loose thru the house, yet you could still see her (funny to see that ball just going)...
As long as she was running, she seem to be happy...I wouldn't worry about the tubes...

my hamster loved to run though and chew on toilet paper and paper towel rolls. It would keep him entertained for long periods of time.
