My little girl got 2 snails on Tues. we chose two of the most active snails in the tank at Petsmart. But when we got home one didn't move at all. When it finally did it attatched to the other snails shell. Last night it was floating in the tank. What could have happened?

I need help... my favorite guppy is looking lackadaisical, its keeps lying on the bottom surface and not swimming.

I've already changed 20 p/cent water today, and yesterday and still there's a sign of ammonia - about a tinge of ammonia in it. I just don't know what to do!

Ok, i have an elite style 60 tank with filter, heater etc..at the moment i have a goldfish and a comet fish.
Can i add tropical fish such as tetras or guppys or will the water temp be to high for goldfish? what is the ideal water temp for goldfish, i know they are quite hardy fish but will they survive in a warmer tank? Thanks.

I had 2 glass catfish, a molly, and 3 brilliant rasboras for a year. 6 weeks ago all died. They were sluggish & a day later slime coats were irritated and white.Per pet store recommendation I treated w/ Melafix & Pimafix.Condition worsened and all fish died. Fish were white & slimy & chunks of slime coat floated in the tank.

I cleaned the tank (no chemicals),got new rocks, plants, filter & decorations, & added fish food & Stability. After 2 weeks I added a goldfish. He was fine after a week so I added another. Both developed symptoms w/in 12 hours. I treated w/Melafix& Pimafix, but both died that day.

Repeated cleaning/cycling regimen. Added 1 goldfish after 2 weeks. Fish was active&happy for 2 days then became sluggish. Treated w/Melafix&Pimafix and he perked up. Behaved normally for 3 days, but took a turn for the worst on day 4. He was upside down on the bottom of the tank, unable to right himself, gills pumping. Died soon after.

Why can't I keep anything alive in this tank?!

Looking at getting back into aquariums (I had a salt water tank once but moved and couldn't bring it with me so I sold it). I want to do a planted aquarium and the platys come in such a variety of colours that I thought they would be a beautiful contrast to the greens of the plants (thought about goldfish but they might be messy) With platys I'm not sure what would be the best size tank to get for them and how strong of a filter current they would be okay with (thinking of buying a fluval 05 series filter system). and any other suggestions on other fish ie bottom dwellers that would exist well with them and any special considerations. thanks.

I set up a new 50 gallon about two weeks ago (I had two 10's before) my water is extremely cloudy with a green tinge; is this algae. The tanks not in direct sunlight however; it still gets quite a bit. If it is algae will a pleco help? I've read some about new tank syndrome and have donea few 10% water changes like suggestion. I know cloudiness is normal in a new tank; but how do I know if mine is more extreme; it seems pretty bad. I have guppies and mollies in it and tested my water; everything is in adequate range (pH is on the upper range but still within normal levels). Any advice is welcome; just please fully read before answering. Thanks.

I'm looking for a pleco to add into my Discus tank. It is a 55 gallon, with a fluval 305 canister. I want one that stays small, under 6 inches would be fine, compatible with discus, and eats a good amount of algae. The tank is in front of a window, so algae is going to be a big problem soon. Also, I have some live plants, so something that will stay away from them for the most part.

I know I read about one pleco that doesn't eat live plants, but I don't know what it is or anything else about it.

I'm willing to spend around $65 for one, but not much higher.

Im going to use this product to cure my fish , and it says on the back to remove the carbon filter.

My question is do you also remove the Bio Fiber Filter and just let the filter circulate the water for 48 hours?

My Convict Cichlid has a weird growth on his left pectoral fin , while his right pectoral fin is normal.
Any idea what that is?

About 2 weeks ago, I got a new betta (his name is Muu Beta). When I got him from the petstore, he, along with all of the other bettas there had some sort of disease that was perhaps fin rot. I treated that and he looks even better than when I got him. About 25 min ago, I heard a splash in his tank. Aparently, he tried to hop out, but there is a glass covering that is about one inch above the water, so I am guessing he hit his little head. (The glass has a large hole in it to give him air). He then began to dart all around the upper left corner of the tank as if he had lost his marbles. About 15 min ago, he stopped his madness. Is he ok? Is he just playing?

Other Info: 2 gallon tank, filter, flourescent light (on in daytime, off at night), hikari pellets, bloodworms, aquarisol preventative medicine weekly, aquarium salt (put in at every water change), ph is exactly 7.0, water conditioners, temp always between 78 and 82 degrees, 60% water change twice weekly, an occasional green pea.

I plan on having one when I get my own place, but I hear they can be tricky to care for. How much of a commitment is a saltwater tank? What are things to consider?

I just came home from a 4 day coast trip and found all these different things on my live rock. Next to one of my anemones are a cluster of these clear/foggywhite, looking tube things, and on another rock this fuzzy peach colored thing that is about half an inch long and then on my algae clip are 2 worms eating my algae. I dont know if any of them are bad or what any of them are. Anyone know?

I'm not talking about natural non-captive hybridization. I'm talking about people purposely hybridizing fish and why you are against this or in favor of it.

A couple of days ago I bought my daughter 2 fantail goldfish. When I got them home and adjusted them to the water in the water in our tank. Once in the tank I noticed something underneath one of the underside fins. I thought it was some kind of ICK. So I treated the tank.

I have been watching it everyday and tonight I noticed that It was bigger and it was moving and I could see blood inside the vein things of the fin. I took him out of the tank and took tweezers and pulled it off of the fin and dropped it into a glass of the aquarium water.

OMG!!!! It was living! and swimming around in the glass. NASTY! It is very small but I can see that it is sort of clear with tiny black dots on its back.

If anyone know what this is please help me. I wont be able to get to the pet store till late tomm. Thank you!
